I wanted to take a little time to reflect before putting into words what happened this weekend and what this season has meant.
First, our boys played their hearts out and won their final tournament of the year. To do it, they had to go through the number one team in the state. What happened on that diamond yesterday was remarkable to witness—not only as a coach, but as a father. The defense was outstanding, the pitching was phenomenal, and the bats were on fire. It is an incredible feeling to watch a group of young men finally realize just how good they are, and then go out and show everyone else.
As I reflect on this season, one word keeps coming to mind: grateful.
I am grateful for these boys. I am grateful for their hard work, their sportsmanship, and their love for the game of baseball. Most of all, I am grateful for their faith—in each other, in the process, and in Jesus.
From day one, we said we would be a Jesus First team. I truly believe these boys lived that out every time they stepped onto the field. Time and time again, opposing coaches, parents, and fans complimented not just how well they played, but how they carried themselves. That meant more than any trophy we could have won. They showed that you can compete with intensity while still playing the game the right way.
To our parents, thank you.
Thank you for trusting us with your sons. Thank you for standing beside us through the highs and the lows. Thank you for believing in what we were teaching and in the kind of team and young men we were trying to build. More than anything, thank you for creating an environment where these boys could learn, grow, and become closer as teammates and as friends. So much of this team's success belongs to all of you. Your patience, encouragement, and grace never went unnoticed.
To our players, I hope you take a moment to appreciate what you accomplished this season. Championships are special, but the relationships you built, the lessons you learned, and the young men you are becoming will last far longer than any ring ever will.
Now go enjoy the rest of your summer. You've earned it.
Thank you for an unforgettable season.
