Day 11 - Mother Nature took care of the irrigation for us this morning with huge thunderstorms that came through.

The heavy downpour caused peat moss to puddle up creating these eerie lines.

Day 10 - Fertilized the green with 8-3-5 this morning. Our first time fertilizing.

Our donated mower headed over to Cherry Hill Golf Course for an experienced greens keeper to look at/tune up.

Might be mowing early next week!

Day 9 after germination - Further progress on the green.

The grass is doing its job growing quickly. We had a volunteer work night last night and pounded in the stakes in the top of the bank, got area between the bank and the sidewalk filled in with sand and started the process of emptying the ditch of sand that got in their during leveling.

We fertilize tonight and will do our first mowing of the green soon.

We are just 1 week into the growth of the grass. A huge transition in just 7 days.

First picture is last Tuesday and the second picture is this morning. Can’t wait to see what it looks like a week from now!

The Curling Club’s Annual Meeting was last night and there was a lot of excitement about the green, lawn bowls and croquet. Many people got to see the green for the first time.

Regular work nights at the green start this Wednesday night at 6:00 pm. We’ll be there every Wednesday night. Come on out and lend a hand to build your green.

Do you like Bocce? Or Curling? Or obscure sports banned by the British Crown for over 300 years?

Then Lawn Bowls might be the sport for you!

Lawn Bowls can be played by people of all ages and abilities. The sport features players rolling balls (called bowls) down a finely manicured lawn. The bowls curl like a curling stone because they have a slight bias to them. The goal is to have your bowls closer to the “jack” (a small target ball) when all the bowls have been delivered. Like Bocce and Curling, one point is scored for each bowl closer to the target than your opponent’s closest bowl.

Over 1 million people play this sport in 50 countries on 6 continents. It is a regular part of the Commonwealth Games and is being considered for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane.

Opening August 1st, the Fort Wayne Lawn Bowls Club will offer Try Bowls sessions, leagues, pickup games, corporate/private events, tournament and more.

We are currently finalizing construction of our bowling green located behind the Fort Wayne Curling Club at 3837 N. Wells Street.

Day 5 - More Green. And we got rock laid behind the back in preparation for sand and topsoil.

Over the next week, we’ll use a skid steer to move much of the sand and prep areas for the shed. Following that, we’ll get the rest of the sidewalks laid, additional sprinkler heads for the hill and lots and lots of mulch and planting.

Day 4 - I am slowly weaning myself off of this bentgrass growth addiction, by only going to see it once per day.
