Arnis Fest 2025 (Saturday)

On Aug 28, 2001, Professor Remy A. Presas, the Founder and Grandmaster of Modern Arnis, passed away.

It’s hard to believe that 24 years have passed since he left us, far too early.

For many of us, it seems like yesterday.

I am sure those reading this will remember where they were when the heartbreaking news came.

He is undoubtedly one of the greatest martial artists of all time and influenced many martial arts during his lifetime.

He left behind many students who continue to teach and spread his beloved Modern Arnis.

He taught us more than just his beloved art of Modern Arnis. He taught us Filipino culture. He taught us how to make connections between different martial arts.

More importantly, he taught us the importance of connections between martial arts instructors and human beings.

He left many students worldwide who have continued to teach and propagate the art to future generations since his passing.

Among them are Professors Chuck Gauss, Ken Smith, and Gaby Roloff. They continue to propagate the art in honor of their beloved teacher and founder of the art, Professor Presas.

Professor, you will never be forgotten.
