In a first for us we hosted a book launch for Scot Mcfarlane’s The River that Made Texas and celebration of Amy Martin’s book Wild DFW.

helped and hindered African Americans seeking freedom from plantations along the river

wreaking havoc in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston with floods
provided drinking water and recreation for much of Texas.

Settle beneath a shady pavilion on the bank of the Clear Fork and listen in on a conversation between Scot McFarlane, author of The River That Made Texas: A Forgotten History of the Trinity, and Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth.

McFarlane will present the cultural history and present-day context of life along the Trinity, and Martin will explore the river's current North Texas conditions and recreational opportunities. Recluse Books will have both books available for purchase and signing.

Afterward, attendees are invited to take a river amble on the Trinity Trails with Martin, or rent kayaks from TC Paddlesports for a guided float up the West Fork.
