Congratulations to today’s winners at the Loco de Cinco tournament in Wichita Falls. Kaiden, Micah; Alec and Marc all put on good shows today! Bringing back 3 belts to Fort Worth! We’re staying on course. Back in the gym on Monday!

Today we participated in the Junior Olympic box-offs in Dallas. Winners of box-offs earn a stipend and an invitation with a guaranteed spot to participate in the National Junior Olympic tournament in Wichita, Kansas in June. Nathan Moreno competed in the age 13-14, 101 lbs intermediate division and Alec Dominguez competed in the age 15-16, 114 lbs junior division. Nathan put forth a competitive effort but came up short. Alec put on a strong performance winning the championship. There’s still much work to do as we prepare for June where we will face the best competitors from around the nation. We’re staying on the grind!

A big shout out to Coach Jesse and his wife Jazmin for coordinating a team outing at Alley Cats Entertainment in Burleson. And much appreciation to Alley Cats for the discounted team rate. Our boxers deserved a break from the everyday grind of gym work. They had a great time interacting and bonding. Everlasting memories with friends and family in and outside the ring.

NFWPAL boxer Reign Palacios competed yesterday in the all female Battle of the Crown tournament in Forney. We came up short but like always she battled her heart out and gave it her best. She is one of the hardest working and most committed boxers on our team! Shes only 8 but is so self-aware and recognizes that learning this sport is a process. Her time is coming and we are so proud of her!

This past Saturday we wrapped up what I believed to be a great week of competition for our team at the 2026 Fort Worth Regional Golden Gloves. Our Team went 9-5, 3 champions, 3 runner-ups. Congratulations are due to several groups. First our whole team! We worked them hard these past few months in preparation for this tournament. A lot of conditioning, a lot of sparring, and a lot of yelling, but as coaches that’s just part of the game! Not all our boxers were matched and were able to compete, but they played a vital role as teammates working and training with each other to prepare. Great teamwork!

Congratulations to our winners and all our participants! A lot of lessons to be taken from the wins and losses: Our Champions: Marc Sandoval, Kaiden Hurtado and Julian Alanis! Our runner ups: Zayden Melton, Angelo Unroe and Jason Alanis, and to the rest of or participants who competed valiantly: Alec Dominguez Malachi Bowie and Billy Barbosa!

Congratulations to our parents for the support they give their kids and our team on a weekly basis. The NFWPAL family filled the stands and cheered the loudest bar none!

Our coaching staff led by Cruz Rodriguez did a great job leading this team. Thank you Coach AJ and Coach Jesse for your sacrifice and commitment!

And a big shout out to the FWPAL administration and FWPD for all the support you provide us!

Until the next one! We’ll keep grinding!

Angelo Unroe didn’t capture his amateur debut win last night, but he battled like a true warrior giving it his all. As coaches, we are proud of all our competitors win or lose! This is a process for our young boxers. They just have to stick with the grind!

We have 3 championship bouts this evening (3, 5 and 8.)

See y’all tonight!

Another great night of first time wins, including first time losses, and tough battles and lessons that teach our competitors resilience, along with testing their will to overcome adversity. But at the end of the day we are proud of all our competitors. Our team is filled with that warrior spirit, that desire to get better, get stronger and to be fed with knowledge to sharpen their skills. We still have a lot of competition left for the week. Let’s go get these wins!

9 year old Kaiden Hurtado started us off last night and dominated giving his opponent two standing 8 counts. He advances to the championship round.

14 year old Jason Alanis won his amateur debut in a hard fought battle against his opponent. He advances to the championship round.

15 year olds Malachi Bowie and Alec Dominguez had no matches in their respective natural weight brackets so moved up in a higher weight bracket so that they could participate in this event. They put on great performances, but came up short.

18 year old Billy Barbosa lost his amateur debut. But this boy has a lot of heart and a strong work ethic. His time will come with more experience.
