There’s always work to be done on the farm—but there’s also peace found in the simple moments. Listening to the chickens, watching life grow, and slowing down just enough to breathe.

I love connecting with our local community centers ahead of time to see which fruits they’ll be distributing. This time it was oranges, bananas, and apples—so a smoothie demonstration it is!

Teaching our kids that healthy food can be simple, accessible, and delicious:
🍎 Apples for digestion
🍊 Oranges for immunity
🍌 Bananas for energy

That’s a win in our book.

Planting seeds today for healthier tomorrows—mind, body, and soul.

Thank you, Diamond Hill Community Center (DHCC), for investing in our community through plant-based cooking demos. A few kids were a little nervous to sample our Sweet Potato Planks—roasted with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.

We told them how proud we were for taking the first step and trying something new. And guess what? They LOVED them! They even said the sweet potatoes reminded them of french fries.

DHCC sent each child home with sweet potatoes, and we added a recipe card so they can keep cooking, exploring, and growing.

Why sweet potatoes? (Potential)
✔️ Rich in fiber
✔️ High in vitamin A for eye and immune health
✔️ Packed with antioxidants
✔️ Supports gut health
✔️ Provides long-lasting energy
✔️ May help stabilize blood sugar
✔️ Supports healthy skin
✔️ Can promote heart health
✔️ Helps keep kids fuller, longer

Owning and maintaining an urban farm comes with challenges — it’s hard work and can take an emotional toll. Yet, it’s also deeply rewarding. This farm has become a space to build community, bring people together, and it’s the very path that led us to our faith.

Yesterday we celebrated Veterans Day surrounded by family and friends. To all the organizations and people who make this day special — thank you for your support.

And a special thanks to all the veterans who have helped on the farm and to the veteran organizations that continue to serve and support.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

God bless!

Meet Pelón, our curious and bold Naked Neck rooster. He’s always the first to explore and the last to back down… especially when it comes to blueberries.

This week was full of blessings! We wrapped up a fun and meaningful cooking demo at Diamond Hill Community Center, where after-school kids learned the power of choosing fresh fruits and veggies, how processed foods affect our health, and why moving our bodies matters. Thank you City of Fort Worth and Diamond Hill Community Center for providing us with these opportunities to serve, share, and grow together.

We’re also grateful to Global Health Corps for inviting us to speak with their amazing “young professionals working in public health—driving progress on everything from maternal health to mental health, and showing the leadership, collaboration, and resilience needed to address health disparities.”

This month we’ve been busy designing garden spaces, managing a landscape construction project, giving tours, and spending meaningful time in the community. We also visited TCC’s plant sale — our new plants are flourishing and attracting wonderful pollinators!

Our chickens have been happily producing eggs — they’re such a joy to watch and spend time with. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

What a week! Our hens laid their first eggs, we welcomed the Tarrant County Food Policy Council for a farm tour, and we were invited to a Gala (thank you JamesLWestCenter & CerebroSano) where we ran into our Grow Southeast friends. We are a wellness hub—growing food, friendships, and awareness: more movement, more veggies, less stress. Together, we can prevent chronic illness and spread wellness through community.

Five years ago, CoAct believed in us when all we had was a vision—to transform our backyard into a space where food could be grown and people could gather in fellowship. It’s hard to believe how far this journey has taken us, and we are deeply grateful for the path of food production, wellness, and community that has unfolded.

Mind Your Garden is more than a name—it’s a wellness hub rooted in faith. Our heart is to provide access to nourishing food, promote healthier eating, and raise awareness of the chronic illnesses many of our families are facing, including the recent addition of dementia.

Our goal is simple yet powerful: to create a place where we can learn from one another, support each other in healing and growth, and build lasting connections.

Join us this Sunday, September 21st from 3–4PM for our first wellness class! This month we’ll open up about our journey—from fully plant-based (vegan) to eating mostly plants while thoughtfully incorporating animal products—and the impact those changes have made. We’ll create space for honest conversations, encouragement, and shared learning.

Just $15 per class—show your support! We accept Cash, Zelle, Cash App, or Venmo. DM us for details. Space is limited! Reserve your spot today. Thank you!

Let’s continue growing together—in body, mind, and soul.

There’s a peace waiting for us outdoors—the garden teaching patience and the chickens reminding us to relax. Steven’s been building compost and tending the flock, and what once felt like chores now bring rest and joy.

Last week, we had the blessing of working with a school to share healthier lunch options. From Agua de Sandía made with watermelons from our garden, to sweet peppers brightening a colorful salad, to healthier fruit rolls suggested by conscious moms with “no added nonsense” —we are grateful to have played a small part in nourishing both body and spirit.

There’s a different kind of healing that happens when therapy takes place in the garden. Occupational therapy among the soil, plants, and sunshine reaches deeper—it restores not just the body, but the mind and soul.

“Consider it pure joy…because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2–4

Kicked off the morning by invading the chickens’ personal space. Thankfully, they let me hang out without a single peck. Thinking about leveling up next time with a full-on chicken costume… just to keep the family on their toes. Minding my garden today and soaking in the reminder that every day is a fresh start. All Glory and Praise to God for new mercies and new adventures

Steven and his father built a larger chicken coop —the chickens are as beautiful as they are feisty.

Lately, life’s been tossing a few lemons our way — and honestly, my first instinct is to do the opposite of what I know is best. But these moments remind me why it’s so important to build healthy habits early: keeping my faith strong, staying connected, nourishing my body, and moving daily.

I’m learning to thank the Almighty for every trial, because each one pulls me closer to Him and His plan—even when I can’t see the whole picture. The hard seasons will pass, but the faith, strength, and growth we gain will remain. Here’s to walking forward with purpose, peace, and hope. God bless!

Grateful for our collaboration with —the support they give to warriors and their families is unmatched.

During one of our talks, someone asked, “What can you leave us with to show it’s all worth it?” That question hit deep—and tied perfectly into what we share in our presentations: that the small, consistent choices we make matter.

It reminded me of a wonderful couple we met this month while running a 5K. In their early 60s and 70s, they were out there competing with people half their age, full of joy and strength. I asked them their secret—they simply said, “We keep moving and eat healthy.” 🏃🏽‍♀️🥗

Our MYG journey has been filled with challenges, growth, and grace. From farming and cooking to running and healing—We’re working to walk in what God has placed on our hearts—showing up, learning along the way, and sharing what He’s taught us, in hopes it blesses someone else on their journey.
