"If Calder’s humor is Jacques Tati, Homecoming’s piece is Judd Apatow. It materials digest Calder’s inventive, formal asthetics and spew out a dismantled derivative substitution, an imperfect copy that trades steel for bounce house vinyl. It is a sculpture that exists as a performance, an artwork that is literally deconstructed every night, and whose permanence is only the illusion of the fragile systems (a high powered fan, an electrical cord) that keep it afloat."

Scenario a) Feral calls reverberate within a familiar space. Doors and windows remain closed. Lights are turned off. Two voices are audible; one male, one female. Walk forward, turn left. Walk forward. Turn right. Stop. Walk forward. Stop. Walk backwards. Stop. Female performers respond to female voice. Male performers respond to male voice. Stop. A wavering tone dominates, stages, tape, black and white sand dunes, seasonal fruits and vegetables, small objects are thrown into the crowd, coins, dice, toys etc.

Scenario b) A fan hums within a familiar space. Blank sheets are handed to the audience without any explanation. Wait. Multiple scripts are read aloud at the same time. Wait. An arm acts as a pivot and confronts a space, two points determine a path. Ping-pong balls, Kleenex, cotton, balloons. Wait. Jackets, ties, vests, dresses, high heels. Wait. A single expression is recorded over a period of time, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes. Bang! Pop! Kapow! Whop! Zamm!

Scenario c) Engines roar within a familiar space. Open your eyes. Shut your eyes. Open your eyes. Shut your eyes. One light, five tones, smile. Open your eyes. Repeat. A long con, a self deprecating act, an assortment of objects arranged by weight, size, and color. A parachute, an overhead projector, become the boundary line, flashes of light, bells, gongs, gourds, bottles, chimes, rope, inconstant movement, ballast box, pulleys, chains, weights.
