I paid for a 6 inch slab, what should I do ?
Building a shop that’s going to have some heavy machines in it and was told by contractor to go with a 6 inch slab so that’s what I did. After I removed the wood that framed around a drain it’s clearly not 6 inches. The contractors claims that this area is an exception but I can’t see it being possible considering the black plastic over the dirt was level before the pour. What is my resolve and what should I do about this ? Thank you all

Water heater died. ⚰️ It's in the attic! 🏠 The hatch is 20 inches wide. The heater is 24 inches wide! 📏 He built the house around it! 🧱 Now I have to cut my ceiling open to change it.

Please tell me this isn’t termites
Lower on our wall, no other activity seems to be present in the house.
Bought the house 9 months ago, no signs of termites on building and pest inspection.
I’m hoping this is a form of ant activity and not termites.
Booking a pest inspection regardless but hoping for some reassurance 😬

To the person who thought it would be funny to put my dog’s p**p back on my doorstep — I’ve already contacted the HOA.
This kind of behavior shows a complete lack of respect for other people’s homes. I don’t understand how anyone thinks it’s acceptable to walk onto someone else’s property and leave something like that. It’s disrespectful and unnecessary.
This is private property. Entering without permission is trespassing, plain and simple. I have cameras, and if it happens again, I will be pressing charges.

$6,500 into brick veneer and detail work — this corner arch isn’t just for looks, it’s about clean transitions and long-term durability.
You don’t see this detail unless you’re looking for it… but once you notice it, you can’t unsee sloppy work elsewhere.

Is this acceptable work from a painter?
Apologies if this is maybe the wrong sub!
The painter is 2 out of 6 days in, we‘re paying them to paint every skirting board + door frame in the house.
After he’d left today, I had a walk around just to see how he was getting on and picked up on these bits (there’s more of the same I haven’t got photos of). We’re also paying him to fill and paper a wall that was damaged from removing old wall paper. In the photos you can see the filler hadn’t been sanded down before the paper was laid.
Am I being picky here or am I right in saying this work isn’t the best to say we’re paying for it?

Quoted £12k to redo the entire slate roof and I’m struggling to see how that makes sense. From what I can tell, only about a third of the roof is actually damaged.
The quote says all the battens are damp and rotten, but after climbing into the loft, that doesn’t match what I’m seeing.
I’ve just bought the house and I know there’s plenty to fix, but replacing the whole roof feels like overkill when only part seems to need attention—especially with so many other projects on the list.
Waiting on more quotes to see what others say.
Any insight appreciated. (North West)
