The Mid-State Mile takes place on the “Murder Mile”. A mile filled 340 feet of elevation gain.

Two things you can count on for Mid-State … heat and rain. The rain poured and the thunder clapped. The storms were a nice reprieve from the smothering humidity.

We want to take a minute to say a huge thank you to another sponsor, supporter, and friend, Joshua Brandt of State Farm.

Joshua has been an incredible supporter of everything we do. From helping with the building, to showing up in the arena, to the aid station, to even helping build our latest structure, his support has reached every part of this community.

We truly could not do what we do without people like him.

How many sponsors do you know who will not only sponsor an event, but stay almost the entire time, run the event, crew a runner, and then turn around and volunteer?

I can guarantee you, we haven’t met many like that. Honestly, we haven’t met one outside of Joshua.

Joshua, thank you so much for everything. We are proud and blessed to call you a friend, and we are so grateful to have you as part of this community.

Thank you, Joshua Brandt of State Farm, for showing up again and again.

Drum 🥁 Roll 🥁 Please…

The fastest P**p 💩 Loop goes to Alex Padgett!

Stay tuned for the official King of the Throne trophy. 🏆

A HUGE thank you to JibJab for all of the support and for making sure everyone had a little inspiration every time they headed to the bathroom. From crew to the corral, they truly had our backsides covered.

If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do. Their content is hilarious, creative, and incredibly unique. They make personalized gifs and ecards for just about every occasion.

These bathrooms were #1 when it came to #2, so thank you so much!

And thank you to Paul Hanges for making this possible and for all the support. Huge congratulations on a Mid-State PR. We can’t wait to see you at sunrise next year.

This weekend was never about one person, one number, or one finish. It was about everyone. It was about every single person who showed up willing to find out what they had inside of them.

We got to bear witness to so many incredible people doing incredible things. Whether your goal was 3 loops, 10 loops, 100 loops, or simply to say yes one more time when everything in you wanted to stop, we saw you.

We are so incredibly grateful for the heart, the ability, the effort, and the courage it takes to keep showing up.

And we hope you know this.

You are more than your ability.
Your worth is not based on how well you run.
Your value is not measured by a result, a distance, or a finish line.

It is found in who you are, how you show up, how you love, how you fight, and how you keep saying yes when it matters.

Thank you for letting us witness that this weekend.

Mark and Harvey are no strangers to the backyard format.

But Mid-State is its own thing.

This year, they both came in as rookies to our little “wild animal” of a race.

It does not care what you have done before. It does not care how many miles you have in your legs or how many battles you have won. It just keeps asking the same question every 20 minutes.

And for hours, Mark and Harvey kept saying yes.

Two legends of the sport, stepping into something new, learning it in real time, and making each other work for every single step.

Mark Dowdle with an incredible assist.

The man dug deep for hours while these two battled it out. You can only go as far as your opponent, and Mark leaned all the way in. He said yes. He chose to believe. And he made Harvey work for every single step.

Thank you, Mark, for everything you gave out there. And thank you, Lucy, for being by his side, loop after loop.
