Today in Sports History the Washington Redskins were formed!
July 9th 1932
Of Course back then they were called the Boston Braves before changing their name a year later to Boston Redskins and then in 1937 moving to Washington D.C.
The name the Redskins was never meant to be taken as an insult but instead honored the tough and brave nature of the Native Americans.
By wearing those colors and that logo we are essentially doing the same as we did in the days of the Boston tea party, showing our respect for the Native American culture and way of life.
