Your first punch doesn't have to land.
A little sparring, some rounds on the heavy bags, and another good night on the mats.
When you're working combinations, it's important to understand that not every technique has to land to be useful.
A jab might help establish distance.
A punch might draw someone's guard up.
A feint might get them moving and create an opening somewhere else.
The purpose isn't always to land the first shot.
Sometimes it's to create the opportunity for the next one.
Understanding how techniques work together is an important part of developing your striking.
