So awesome to have my first instructor, Jay Jack drop in! Jay showed us some cool new tricks, dropped some life lessons, and murdered everyone in the room. Good times! Thanks again, Jay. You’re the best!

Every instructor has their own ideas for promoting students. At the Shed, we look for a few different things. First, we closely follow IBJJF guidelines. Once the appropriate timeframes for graduation are met, we look at technical proficiency, consistency, and attitude. While we don’t require competition for promotion, we acknowledge that competitors typically progress faster. At the end of the day, promotions are earned and never given. With that said, if you seek the skills, the belts will come.
