Now THIS is what getting stronger looks like. 💪❤️

In 2025, one of our members underwent two lung surgeries just two months apart, losing the upper lobe of her left lung and a small portion of her upper right lung.

Since then, she and personal trainer Melissa Klinksiek have been putting in the work together to rebuild her strength and improve her health. This October will mark one year of training together!

And that hard work is showing. At a recent checkup, she received wonderful news about both her cardiovascular health and bone density. 🎉

Then came another pretty incredible milestone…

She lifted a 50-lb sack of feed! 💪

She told us, “I admire my coach for all she has done for me, and I think we have an awesome Wellness Center for our community.” ❤️

This is what functional strength is all about. Not just lifting weights in the gym, but building the strength to do the things you need and want to do in everyday life.

50 pounds of feed. One very strong woman. One BIG victory. 👏

The Create Healthy Wellness Center is hiring a Wellness Educator & Outreach Specialist to help bring health education, wellness programming, and community outreach to people across the Hill Country.

This full-time role is a great fit for an energetic health professional who enjoys connecting with people, building community partnerships, and turning evidence-based wellness information into practical programs that inspire healthier lives.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field and at least two years of experience in community health, wellness education, public health, health promotion, or a related area.

Healthy changes do not have to happen all at once.
Through Healthy Together, Maricela Gurrola and her children learned how to read food labels, cook with whole grains, add more vegetables to meals, reduce sugary drinks, and stay active as a family.
"We made baby steps and tried to have fun with it," Maricela said. "My children helped me cook, and it's great because this is so good for them to learn healthy habits."
