Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course

Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course Lady Bird returns one to the easier times, when golf was made to walk and enjoy time in nature. Golfers of all skill levels will love the new look of Lady Bird.

We’ve even added a set of tees for a greater variety of play. But don’t let its good looks fool you—challenges and surprises await around every dog leg. The front nine features rolling terrain, with plenty of up-and-down play. #4 is a masterful recreation of the famous Redan hole in Scotland. Golfers will need to carry bunkers guarding the green. #6 is a signature Par 3 that stretches 194 yards, part of it over Live Oak Creek. The back nine, while flatter, offers challenges of a different kind, including a wide array of bunkers. #14 is the last Par 5 on the course, stretching 616 yards from the back tees. Its double dogleg requires precise shot placement. #16 is considered our signature hole by many. Water will grab anything that comes up short, but you can bail out to the left. In short, you’ll find plenty to test your shot-making skills while enjoying the gorgeous Hill Country landscape.

Today - and every day - we appreciate Chino and the entire maintenance team for the work they put into caring for Lady Bird. We found Chino yesterday, late in the day - on Labor Day - still out verticutting the greens. And if Labor Day meant verticutting, Thank a Super Day means aerifying and topdressing. Scheduling the work close together allows the greens to recover at the same time, minimizing disruption while preparing them for overseeding in November. We asked Chino what he most wanted golfers to know. His answer? He’s especially proud of the fairways - particularly No. 7, his favorite, pictured behind him. Keeping them looking this good through a stretch of dry weather has taken a lot of work, and he knows there’s still more to do.

Planning your fall golf? Please mark these November dates. Lady Bird Golf Course will be closed November 2–11, 2026, for overseeding of the greens and tees. The driving range will remain open. New grass seed needs short, frequent watering cycles throughout the day. This 10-day closure will allow us to water as needed and give the new grass time to establish without golf traffic. Our goal is a more consistent putting surface through winter and spring. This work is an investment in better playing conditions, and we’re sharing the dates early so you can plan ahead. We apologize for the interruption and appreciate your patience.

After six weeks of hard-fought match play - many decided on the final hole and several requiring playoffs - Jeff Stehling (left) and Stacy Colvin (2nd photo) met in the 2026 Founder’s Day Cup final. Tied after 18 holes, they headed to No. 17 for the first playoff hole, where Jeff made par to secure the match. 2025 champion Keith Mell presented the trophy to the new champion. Hats off to everyone who competed, and congratulations to Jeff Stehling, the 2026 Founder’s Day Cup Champion!
