Freeland Middle School Track and Cross-Country

The Middle School Cross Country season continued last night with our first TVC meet at Hemlock.
The boys started things off placing 3rd as a team and a 2nd overall finish by Nathan Diffin and 10th overall by Ethan Mielke.
The girls kept it going by placing first as a team with 5 girls in the top 10. 2nd overall Bryar Rytlewski, 4th overall Evelyn Chan, 5th overall Hailey Haven, 8th overall Adalynn McNalley and 10th overall Brianna Ryan.
The entire team continues to work hard and it shows with most finish times under their opening meet times.
After each meet I like to highlight a few runners with exceptional performances. The first is Jayce Murray who took over 2 minutes off his meet 1 performance and Genevieve Beattie who took over 6 minutes off her previous weeks time. Both of them are new athletes to the team and show up every day to practice and work hard. And Amara Larimer, who ran her all time personal best last night, showing up everyday, putting in the work. Congratulations to the entire team.
I want to give a shoutout to Wesley Todd. He’s been working through an injury but shows up everyday to practice and attends every meet, and is there on the course encouraging and cheering on his team, and there to give me a hand loading the tent in the bus. Thank you Wesley for being there and showing us what team is.

MS Cross Country update for week 9/14
Announcements
1.) We have two meets this week, Tuesday September 15 and Saturday September 19. Reminder that there is no bus for Saturday meets, please ensure students arrive 1 hour before scheduled race time.
Schedule
Monday 9/14/26 - Practice 2:45 - 4:00
Tuesday 9/15/26- TVC meet at Hemlock, 733 N Hemlock Road. Boys race at 5:45 and Girls at 6:15. Bus will depart after school for Hemlock. I have heard from a couple parents that they will drive their students to the meet, that’s fine, just arrive one hour before race time, and please let me know if that is the plan. Signout sheet will be at the team tent.

Thursday 9/17/26 - Practice 2:45 - 4:00
Friday 9/18/26 - No Practice
Saturday 9/19/26 - Al Kayner Invitational at Delta College. 1961 Delta Rd., the meet will be held on the east side of campus. Boys race at 11:05 and the Girls at 11:35.

Middle School cross country kicked off the season Wednesday at the Marauder Invitational in Saint Johns. The girls took home the 2nd place team trophy placing 3 of the top 4 runners. In addition to the team competition we had 4 girls who medaled in the top 30. Evelyn Chan took 2nd, Bryar Rtylewski was 3rd, Hailey Haven was 4th and Adalynn McNalley placed 9th. It was a very good performance for our entire girls team setting impressive times to kick off the season.
Our boys also had a strong showing, placing 4th in the team competition. We also had 3 boys who medaled in the top 30. Eli Graham took 3rd, Nathan Diffin was 7th and Ethan Mielke 16th. Like the girls the entire boys team had a great day and the work they’ve put in at practice showed in the excellent times.
We kick off the TVC season on Tuesday September 15 at Hemlock.

Boys Race: 4:20PM
Girls Race: 4:40PM
Bus departs at 2:15PM, reminder for parents that will be driving their students home from the meet, you must sign them out, sign out sheet will be located in the team tent. If you’re unable to locate it please contact me.

1.). I’ll be handing out uniforms on Monday at practice.
2.). Pictures will be taken on Tuesday 9/1 at practice, please send your student to school with their uniforms packed, and the forms filled out, packets went home on Thursday.

Middle School Cross Country Update for the week of 8/24
Announcements
We officially kick off the season this week, practice will run each day from 2:15 - 4:00. We’ll start at the concession stand at the football field.
We’ll have a brief parents meeting on Wednesday after practice starting around 3:50, will discuss the season, meets and transportation and answer any questions.
Sports physicals must be done and loaded in final forms or your student will not be able to practice.

I hope everyone has been having a great summer, I wanted to provide a quick update on our upcoming Middle School Cross Country season.
Official practice starts the first day of school Monday August 24, and will run from 2:45 -
4:00 each day. We’ll gather near the concession stand at the football field. Sports physicals will need to be completed prior and uploaded or the student will not be allowed to practice.

We’ll be holding optional conditioning sessions the following days, where we will focus on a warmup and a light run.

The Regional Track Meet was completed on Friday, we had strong performances from the entire team.
Overall Winners
Large School Boys Shot Put - Pearson Myers - 41’ 6.5”
Large School Girls 55M Hurdle - Allison Jurek - 9.70
Large School Girls 4x400 Relay - Julia Kowalski, Adalyn Rorabacher, Lily Deshone, Kennedi Jaremba - 4:30:10

Megastar Qualification and Large School Overall
Emily Klopf - Pole Vault - 7’

In addition to the above we had a number of medal winners, a big congratulations to the entire team!

Middle School Track and Field update for the week of June 1.
We have reached the end of the season, we have two practices left prior to the megastar meet on Thursday. Those athletes that are participating have been notified. We are having our end of season get together on Wednesday after school in the middle school cafeteria. We will have pizza and celebrate the success of the season. We’re asking all athletes that participated during the season to join us.

Thursday - Megastar Meet in Shepherd. Students will be dismissed early and the bus departs at 12:15. Shepherd High School 321 S. Fourth Street. 2:00 Field Events and 2:45 Running Events start.
