Congratulations Lia!!!

🏐 FEMALE SENIOR SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK: LIA VICKERS 🏐

Summit Spine & Sport and Sip Studio are proud to recognize Lia Vickers, a senior volleyball player at Freeport High School!

Lia recently moved to Freeport from Pennsylvania, but she has already made a big impact on her team.

Her coach shared:

“Lia is an excellent setter. Everyone loves her, and she is fun and inclusive of everyone on the team. She is always positive and brings great energy.”

We sat down with Lia to learn a little more about her!

Q: Who has played an important role in your development as a student or athlete?

Lia: I’ve only been at Freeport for about two months since I just moved here, but I would definitely say my coach. She has consistently shown that she believes in me, and that means a lot for my confidence. She has shown me that I can be a leader and has helped me become a better leader both on and off the court.

Q: Where did you live before moving to Freeport?

Lia: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Q: What are your plans after graduating from high school?

Lia: I plan to attend college. I’m interested in studying sports psychology and physical therapy, or possibly going into business and real estate.

Q: Do you have any colleges in mind?

Lia: Either UWF or Flagler College.

Q: What advice would you give the freshman version of yourself?

Lia: Take every setback as an opportunity to grow. Through sports, life and everything else, discipline has taught me a lot. All of those experiences have helped me become a better athlete and person.

Congratulations, Lia! We are excited to see everything you accomplish during your senior year and beyond!

Tune in tomorrow for our male spotlight: Braxton Durgin (also pictured)

🏆 Summit Spine & Sport + Sip Studio SENIOR STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 🎓

This week, we are proud to recognize Emmalee Jimenez of Freeport High School! 💙🧡🐾

Emmalee was nominated by her coach not only because of the athlete she is, but because of the perseverance, strength, and character she continues to show.

The summer before her junior year, Emmalee began experiencing seizures that became severe enough that she had to transition to homeschooling. Despite everything she has faced, she has worked her way back into the classroom and back onto the court.

Even after experiencing some episodes during matches, Emmalee continues to show up, work hard, and compete. She is the Bulldogs’ starting middle blocker and is also a member of the basketball and softball teams. Her coach describes her as a strong player and, just as importantly, a great teammate.

We asked Emmalee a few questions about her time at Freeport and what comes next:

🎤 If you could go back and give the freshman version of yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?

“I would tell myself to have confidence and to play for myself.”

📚 Is there a teacher or coach who has made an impact on your life during your time at Freeport?

“Ms. Hunt has made a big impact on my life because she has always been there for me. She has always provided a safe space where I feel comfortable talking to her.”

🎓 What are your plans after graduation?

“I want to become a child psychologist. I am currently considering UAB and Troy University.”

Emmalee’s story is a great example of what it means to persevere, keep showing up, and continue moving forward even when the road isn’t easy.

Congratulations, Emmalee, on being named our Senior Student-Athlete of the Week! We are proud to celebrate you and can’t wait to see what your future holds! 💙🧡🐾

A special thank you to Sip Studio for partnering with Summit Spine & Sport to help us recognize and celebrate the amazing seniors of Freeport High School—Emmalee received a certificate for a free Tea, Shake, & Aloe!
