🥏 THE 2026 FALL SEASON PATCH: OLIVE & ABBOTSFORD, BRITISH COLUMBIA 🇨🇦
Every League season, our patch gives us an opportunity to celebrate one of the dogs, people or Clubs that make up this worldwide family of Frisbee doggers.
For the 2026 90:/5 Fall Season, we’re heading to British Columbia.
This season’s patch will feature Olive, the beautiful red Border Collie belonging to Abbotsford K9 Frisbee Club Captain Naomi Simpson, and will be dedicated to the entire Abbotsford, B.C. Club.
There’s quite a story behind this one.
🇨🇦 FROM A NEW CLUB TO ONE OF LEAGUE’S MOST RELIABLE
Mary Young founded the Abbotsford K9 Frisbee Club for the Summer Down Under 2022 Season.
Naomi joined the following season with Monty, then added Katie and, in the Fall of 2022, a young red Border Collie named Olive.
Thirty-three League seasons later, Abbotsford has become one of our most stable Clubs, routinely putting approximately 20 Teams on the field each season.
Naomi took over as Club Captain in 2025 and has helped keep that tradition going.
But anybody who knows Naomi knows that K9 Frisbee is only one part of her life with dogs.
🚀 THE RED ROCKET
Olive turned six this summer, and Frisbee is just one entry on a pretty ridiculous résumé.
She’s competed in disc dog, agility, flyball, barn hunt and other dog sports, traveling with Naomi throughout British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest — often with Winnie the Winnebago serving as home base for another weekend of camping and dog competition.
As a youngster, Olive preferred sheep herding to agility and wasn’t particularly interested in doing things simply because somebody thought she should.
That apparently hasn’t changed much.
Naomi recently described her perfectly:
“This dog always plays her own game. Olive is so incredibly talented in everything she does, but she decides the rules.”
Sounds like a Border Collie.
Over the years, however, that independent little red dog has compiled quite a record.
Olive earned her first agility Q before she was two. Just weeks after beginning disc, she was already collecting placements at UpDog competitions. She’s been one of the fastest dogs at agility trials, became a Flyball Champion Gold, and has earned top finishes in Barn Hunt.
Last year, she and Brad Morris even won Top Team Overall in the Intermediate Division at the Pacific Northwest UpDog Championship.
Naomi calls her Olive, Olly, Ollybear, Olivia — and perhaps most appropriately:
“The best naughtiest girl in all the land.”
🔥 THEN CAME THIS SUMMER
This patch has another meaning this year.
In July, a major wildfire swept through the Chasm area of British Columbia, where Naomi owns property.
The fire devastated her farm.
When Naomi was finally able to return, neighboring homes were still standing.
Every building on her property was gone.
Fortunately, the most important news was also the best news: no people or animals were hurt.
On August 4, Naomi wrote:
“Fire is a crazy powerful thing! I am so very thankful no humans or animals were hurt, structures can be rebuilt… I remain positive that once the land heals, we can rebuild again and create more memories.”
The insurance process has been difficult, and Naomi discovered she was underinsured for what had been on the property. Ahead of her is the enormous job of cleaning up what the fire left behind.
Her focus?
Cleanup. Rebuild. Move forward.
That seems particularly appropriate for someone whose favorite quote is:
“Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.”
❤️ AND THEN, SOME VERY GOOD NEWS
Life doesn’t always follow the script we’d write for it.
Just weeks after losing the buildings on her farm, Naomi had something considerably happier to share.
On September 10, she announced her engagement to Brad Morris, calling him her soulmate, best friend and the person she wants beside her through every chapter still to come.
Together they’re building a life that includes their family, their dogs, dog sports, camping and travel — and apparently even a Hyrox fitness competition this December because Naomi evidently doesn’t have enough hobbies already.
🇨🇦 THIS ONE’S FOR ABBOTSFORD
So when League members around the world earn their 2026 Fall Season patches, the dog they’ll see flying across them will be that mischievous red Border Collie from British Columbia.
But the patch represents something bigger.
It’s for Olive and Naomi. It’s for Mary Young, who started the Abbotsford Club. And it’s for the handlers and dogs who have kept showing up season after season and turned Abbotsford into one of the League’s most dependable Clubs.
Thirty-three seasons. Usually around 20 Teams strong.
A group of people getting together every week to throw Frisbees to their dogs — which is really what this whole crazy Worldwide League has always been about.
This Fall, Olive flies on the patch.
And the Abbotsford K9 Frisbee Club flies with her. 🇨🇦🐕🥏❤️
🥏 AND NOW IT’S TIME TO PLAY 90:/5 FALL!
Week 1 of our five-week 2026 90:/5 Fall Season begins Friday, September 25 — and 110 K9 Frisbee Clubs have already registered to play!
If you’ve never played 90:/5, it’s fast, simple and a little less forgiving than our 60:/All format.
Each Team plays two 90-second rounds of Toss & Fetch each week, with only the best five catches in each round scoring points. Ten catches. That’s all you’ve got to build your weekly score — so make ’em count!
And this Fall there’s one more reason to get on the field:
You want an Olive patch. 🐕❤️
Let your Club Captain know you’re ready to play 90:/5 Fall, grab your dog and your discs, and get ready for five more weeks of chasing catches, scores and titles with Frisbee doggers around the world.
110 Clubs are already in.
Week 1 begins September 25.
Come earn your Olive. 🥏🐕🇨🇦
