I graduated this past weekend, and I was continuously reminded of how significant this research is and how far it has reached not only African Americans, but also Latino, Asian, and other minority groups in the workplace. It began with the ceremony, during which one of the presenters discussed how she had dealt with imposter syndrome while studying to become a psychologist. It was brought up again at an Asian Unity Fundraiser event for legal professionals, where a Judge and two lawyers noted it in their speeches and recounted their own experiences with Impostor Syndrome.
This is a natural and severe issue for minorities that is making ripples in the minds of professional high achievers. Learn from these men and women of color's stories, which not only addressed imposter syndrome but also how some of them overcome it. Avoid burnout and maximize your earning potential.
Learn everything there is to know about it in this new research study, in which I share the findings and how to recover. To start the dialogue about how to raise awareness and take action, I coined the term Organizational Induced Intrapersonal Trauma (OIIT).

Hello Business Goddesses,
This narrative research study investigated the Impostor Phenomenon in men and women of color in the workplace. It demonstrated how racial identity issues related to the Impostor Phenomenon on three levels. On the initial level of Impostor Phenomenon feelings, nine themes were identified: tokenization, invisibility, isolation, a lack of belonging, psychological agony from racism, physiological effects from microaggressions, job dissatisfaction, racial identity insecurity, and intersectionality of complex trauma.
The second level Impostor Phenomenon showed five forms of psychological strain: intrapersonal conflicts, inferiority versus superiority feelings, ability ambiguity and lack of confidence, diminished self-worth, and delayed job advancement that could inhibit professional growth and development.
The third level addressed the outcomes and repercussions of the Impostor Phenomenon and Racial Identity Triggers, which explored five additional sublayers of psychological suffering: organizational trauma, culture and attitude, high stress and anxiety, depression, low engagement, and burnout.
I introduced and coined the term Organizationally Induced Intrapersonal Trauma (OIIT), to articulate these experiences occurring in corporate America today for men and women of color. Now I can share these results with the world.
