Why It's So Hard to Change Habits in Golf?
Changing habits in golf and in life is tough because our cognitive biases often block new beliefs. Our existing beliefs shape our identity and understanding of the world, so changing one can disrupt many others, making us resistant to change.
Raw data isn’t enough to break through these barriers. There needs to be a level of compassion, as our emotions play a big role in how we process information. Understanding how our cognitive biases work helps us change our minds.
Humans are naturally irrational and tend to stay the course. Research shows that once we make up our minds, it’s hard to change them, even when there’s danger ahead.
Here are some activities to improve your mindset:
Embrace Change: Because golf is just another activity you do in life, change starts outside golf as well as in golf, so start embracing change in the small areas in your life and it will be easier to make changes in your golf journey.
Set Goals: Identify impactful goals like changing your lifestyle, being happier at work, or improving relationships. Working on a total change in your life will make it easier to accept change when it comes to your golf game.
Reframe Your Thinking: View change as a challenge and celebrate progress.
Journal: Regularly write down your thoughts, feelings, reflections, goals, and benchmarks.

I will not apologize for who God created me to be. I will not apologize for the blessings, connections and purpose that I walk in. I will not shrink or hide my light because it makes you feel uncomfortable or exposes an insecure part of you that you have when I'm around . As much as you are watching...you don't see the constant work that's put in when no one is watching. You and society said I was weak because men dont show emotions but healthy emotions are a sign of strength. You thought mountains and giants were going to stop me but I move mountains and slay giants. Such a blessing that this Texas Today segment is on my Ampuversary! 6 years... I can't believe how fast it has been. As I've always said, this is bigger than my birthday, I've been given a second chance by Christ and I will steward this well. I just want to thank everyone that has had my back (Wife, family, students,friends,church and sponsors)over the years and those who didn't it's ok... no hard feelings because everyone has a story and a road that they need to take.
