The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Founded in 2003, the club competes in the eight-team Texas League and won the circuit's championship in 2004.
The RoughRiders have led all of Double-A in attendance each of the last 14 years. In addition to hosting 70 Riders games every season, the venue also plays host to numerous other events throughout the year, including the Frisco College Baseball Classic and Dirk Nowitzki's annual Heroes Foundation Celebrity Baseball Game, and numerous corporate meetings and events.
In August 2014, a group led by Chuck Greenberg purchased the RoughRiders and helped further elevate the franchise as one of the best in Minor League Baseball. Greenberg's group, in conjunction with the City of Frisco, has also invested more than $8 million in improvements to Dr Pepper Ballpark, highlighted by the addition of the nationally renowned Lazy River, a new HD video board, and the creation of the Bull Moose Saloon, among other renovations. Ballpark Digest recognized the franchise in its "best ballpark improvements" awards after the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The Frisco RoughRiders introduced the Biggest Party in North Texas during the 2018 season, the Deep Ellum Brewing Party @ The Yard. During each Thursday RoughRiders' home game, the area of the ballpark beyond the outfield wall becomes an all-inclusive party scene. Party @ The Yard guests enjoy incredible drink specials, including $1 beer, $2 crafts and multiple mixed drink offerings, along with music from a live DJ.
