Can you honestly say you've been at least 80% consistent? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Meaning, you only had ~6 days off track?

If not, then you can't complain about seeing slower results than you wanted.

When you visually break it down, it's crazy seeing how few days can be off-track just to hit the 80% mark.

If you’ve seen my previous posts, you know..

I'm all for being flexible with fitness. 🍷🍔🍻

Sometimes, it's worth going over your targets while on a date night with your significant other.

Occasionally, it's worth missing your protein target to enjoy a few drinks and snacks with your friends.

It's ALRIGHT to go off track every so often.

Plus, "going off track" can mean a lot of different things.

Going 250 calories over your target will have a much smaller impact on your results than going 1000+ calories over, even though both are considered "going off track." 

But here's the point..

If you're going to make choices that slow down your progress, then you need to be alright with them. That, or you need to reevaluate your program to make it more of a priority.

The worst thing you can do is regularly go off track and then beat yourself up about it.

Finding harmony between "fitness" and "fun" is tricky..

Especially since most people think going out to eat or drinking when they're dieting isn’t doable. 😅

But it is 100% possible.

Feeling more stressed out than usual lately?!
The foods that you’re turning to are most likely going to be traditional ‘comfort’ foods – think big meals, take-out, fatty foods, sweet snacks, and alcohol. Let’s face it – we’ve all found some comfort in a tasty meal and a bottle of beer or glass of wine when we’ve been stressed out or upset about something. However, this isn’t a good permanent solution.

🥑Avocado – Contain higher levels of vitamin E, folate, and beta-carotene. High in fat.

🫐Blueberries – Blueberries have some of the highest levels of antioxidants, especially anthocyanin. This yields sharper cognition, better focus, and a clearer mind.

🍵Chamomile Tea – Drinking sugary/caffeinated liquids, like coffee, energy drinks or pop, can actually increase your stress levels if consumed regularly.

🍫Chocolate – Studies have shown that eating chocolate can make you happier. Chocolate works best as a de-stressor when eaten in moderation and as part of a healthy and balanced diet.

🥩Beef – Grass-fed beef has a huge range of antioxidants, including beta-carotene and Vitamins C and E.

🫓Oatmeal – Helps with digestion. Studies have shown that kids who choose oatmeal for breakfast tend to be much sharper throughout the morning in school.

🌰Walnuts – Walnuts are a tasty snack for in-between meals or as part of a desert. They’re great for salads, or add them to a sweet treat such as coffee and walnut cake.

🥠Pistachios – Studies have found that simply eating two small, snack-size portions of pistachios per day can lower vascular constriction, putting less pressure on your heart by further dilating your arteries.

🥬Green Leafy Vegetables – Full of nutrients and antioxidants which help to fight off disease. Spinach is excellent for you being rich in folate. This helps your body produce more serotonin, a ‘feel-good’ chemical.

🥛Fermented foods – Yogurt can help to keep your gut healthy. The beneficial bacteria have a direct effect on your brain chemistry and transmit positive mood and behavior regulating signals to your brain via the vagus nerve.

Do you skip meals thinking it will help you reach your weight loss goals faster? 🙅🏼‍♂️

In stead, try to reduce the calories per meal and allow for more meals throughout the day. I have my clients focus on daily protein and water intake goals. Eating higher protein foods will help keep you more full and supply your muscles with the nutrients they need to build/maintain/recover.

So stop skipping meals and start fueling your body with smarter portions! 💪🏼

Whether it’s building your dream body, improving a relationship, or growing in your career — hard work is essential.

Hard work isn’t always fun, as it usually requires doing things you don’t always wanna do.

It requires uncomfortable change.

That’s why losing weight is tough. You have to change the way you eat, the way you move your body…

You basically have to fundamentally change the way you live your life. 😅

Which is one of the many reasons I became a personal trainer in the first place — to show you that fat loss can be simpler and easier than most make it out to be.

The five rules I share in this post are the best place to start, as they’re all about focusing on YOUR journey.

Comparing yourself to others or setting unrealistic expectations around how quickly or efficiently you should see progress will make this process harder.

Do this instead:

✅ Focus on the small changes you’re seeing and feeling.

✅ Focus on what’s working for you and your lifestyle.

✅ Focus on doing better today than you did yesterday.

Weight loss is hard, no doubt.

But it doesn’t have to be miserable.

By following these five rules, you’re going to find this process to be far more enjoyable and rewarding.
