Our last handgun day of the year is this coming Sunday!

Handgun Days at Frostburg Rifle/Pistol Range
The Big Savage Sportsmen’s Club is hosting two “Handgun Days at the Frostburg Rifle/Pistol Range” in August – the first will take place on Sunday, August 2nd, and the other will take place on Sunday, August 16th. The events are free and open to the public, and are designed for those citizens who are thinking about handgun ownership, or who own a handgun but don’t feel comfortable shooting it.
Both events will provide the opportunity to shoot a variety of types and calibers of handguns made available by local gun dealer ‘Mountain Maryland Fi****ms Training’ of Frostburg. Shooters may also bring their own handgun and ammunition. Those attending under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, or legal guardian. Handgun instructors will provide short workshops throughout the day to explain laws regarding transport, storage and safety, responsibilities of handgun ownership, and will demonstrate grip, aiming and shooting techniques. Live firing will follow each workshop and will be supervised by NRA certified Range Safety Officers of Big Savage Sportsmen’s Club.
The range is located off of Clifton Terrace, Rt. 40, west of Frostburg, across the road from Kemp Drive. Participants may attend any time between 10a.m. and 3p.m. The range will close at 4pm. The Club has hosted a Handgun Day each spring and fall since 2010. Protected by pavilions at the range the event will be held rain or shine.

August 18th from 9am-4pm (Frostburg State University Police)

August 21st from 10am-3pm (FSU PD)

August 27th from 1pm-done (Frostburg Police Dept)

August 28th from 1pm-done (FPD)

August 30th from 1pm-3pm (MD Wear and Carry Class

Range closed Saturday, July 11
Painting of structures by Boy Scout Harrison Ruddell at the range started earlier are being completed on Saturday, July 11, and therefore the range will be closed to all users.

DUE TO THE UPCOMING CELEBRATION OF AMERICA’S BIRTH, THE FROSTBURG RIFLE/PISTOL RANGE WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY, JULY 4TH AND SUNDAY, JULY 5TH. THE NEXT DAYS THE RANGE WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WILL BE ON SATURDAY, JULY 18, AND SUNDAY, JULY 19, FROM 11AM TO 4PM.
