Don't know why I hadn't thought about this before. It's pretty basic, but simple is better for me.
If you wonder about a string material damaging your bow based on how much stretch or elasticity is has, just do a comparison.
These are results I got from doing a search on "how much stretch does linen have", then HMPE (the material that original FF, Dynaflight, etc. is made from) and LCP (Vectran, or the material that gets blended with Dyneema to make materials like X-99, 452, etc.)
Flax linen was used literally for centuries, most famously used on English longbows, and is still considered a "primitive" or "period correct" material for wood bows.
"Linen yarn stretches very little because flax fibers are naturally inelastic. [1, 2, 3]
Stretch Percentage
Dry stretch: 1.5% to 2% maximum.
Wet stretch: Up to 3.5% when damp.
Recovery: Near zero elasticity. [1, 2]"
Dynaflight, 8125, etc. are trade names for HMPE.
"HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene) yarn stretches remarkably little, featuring an elastic elongation of under 1% at normal working loads and a maximum elongation of only 3.5% to 4% at its absolute breaking point.
