SHIFT Yoga & Strength We help women build strength, move with confidence and find peace in a body that is changing.

A dynamic studio in Fulton, Maryland offering deeply relaxing yoga classes for ALL and transformative strength training classes that are just for Women over 35.

The best part of SHIFT has never been just what happens during class. 🤍

Yes, we build strength, move our bodies, and make space to slow down and breathe. But we also laugh, make friends, share conversations, and create memories together.

To the women who showed up today and made our SHIFT Social what it was: thank you for being part of what makes this community so special. Our social events are becoming such a meaningful part of the heartbeat of this studio.

This is what we believe in, creating space for connection that goes beyond the mat and the weights.

Because wellness is about so much more than strong muscles. It’s also about feeling connected, finding your people, and having a place where you feel at home.

And if you’ve been watching from the sidelines, wondering what it might feel like to be part of SHIFT, we hope you’ll come find out. You don’t have to know anyone or have it all figured out. There’s a place for you here.

Build strength. Restore your energy. Find your people. Belong. 🤍

The life of a small business owner is not nearly as glamorous as Instagram makes it look. 😂

Some days you’re changing lives. Other days you’re unclogging a toilet, troubleshooting the Wi-Fi, wondering why payroll exists, and questioning every decision that led you here.

It can be an exhausting, soul-sucking, occasionally “what the hell am I doing?” kind of grind. But then you see the impact you’re making, the people who walk through your doors and become your people, and you remember exactly why you keep showing up.

We don’t do it for the fame and fortune. (The fortune, in particular, remains elusive. 😂)

But when your county executive gives your little business a public shoutout? After years of pouring your heart into something you believe in?

DAMN. RIGHT. WE’RE GOING TO ACT LIKE WE JUST GOT DISCOVERED. 💃😂

We’re proud of what we’ve built, grateful for the recognition, and absolutely not above enjoying our 15 minutes of fame.

In fact, if anyone else would like to recognize us, we are very available. 😂🙋‍♀️

Thanks again for seeing us Calvin Ball. We at still pinching ourselves and behind grateful for your support in our mission.

Your body doesn’t need you to earn rest. It needs you to make room for it. 🤍

A slow yoga class. Yoga nidra. A sound bath. An hour where you’re not fixing, pushing, producing, or performing.

Rest isn’t what happens when everything else is done. Rest is part of how we keep going.

Come exhale with us. ✨

Eight years ago, we opened the doors to SHIFT with a simple belief: that movement could be about so much more than fitness.

Today, we’re building something much bigger.

We were honored to welcome Howard County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball and Howard County Economic Development Authority CEO Jennifer Jones to SHIFT during Business Appreciation Week—a meaningful opportunity to celebrate not just our business, but the people and community who have shaped it.

Because SHIFT has never really been about a room, a schedule, or a collection of classes. It’s about what happens when people feel strong enough to keep going, supported enough to soften, and connected enough to know they belong.

And we’re not finished.

Our vision for the years ahead is to help define what women’s health and wellness can look like in Howard County—bringing together strength, yoga, restoration, education, and genuine community in a way that supports women through real life and every season of it.

We want to keep raising the bar for what a wellness space can be.

Not bigger for the sake of being bigger.
Just deeper. More thoughtful. More human. More impactful.

We’re incredibly proud of our team. Proud of the community that has grown around these walls. And deeply grateful to be building this next chapter right here in Howard County.

There is so much more ahead. 🤍

What actually happens during 200 hours of yoga teacher training?

Yes, you learn anatomy, philosophy, sequencing, cueing and the skills you need to become a thoughtful, confident yoga teacher. But if you ask our graduates what they remember most, I’m willing to bet it won’t be the anatomy quizzes or the sequencing assignments.

It will be the friendships. The laughter. The conversations that made them think differently. The moments they surprised themselves. The practice of finding their voice and learning to trust it. The feeling of being surrounded by people who were all learning, growing and figuring it out together.

Because YTT has a funny way of becoming about so much more than learning how to teach yoga.

You may come because you want to teach. You may come because you want to deepen your own practice. You may not even know exactly why you feel drawn to it yet. You just know there’s something more you want to explore.

And that’s enough of a reason to start.

Our next 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training begins this December at SHIFT, and enrollment is open.

If you’ve been wondering whether YTT might be your next chapter, comment TEACH below and we’ll send you the link to learn more. 🧡

Maybe you’ve been meaning to prioritize yourself since January.

You just kept putting it off.

There were things that needed to be done.
People who needed you.
Work that needed finishing.
A house that needed cleaning.
A child who needed something.
A text you needed to answer.
A million tiny things that somehow always seemed more important than you.

And somewhere along the way, your body started keeping score.

The shoulders that never quite come down.
The jaw you catch yourself clenching.
The shallow breath.
The restless sleep.
The constant feeling that you’re doing everything, but never quite arriving anywhere.

You keep telling yourself you’ll make time for yourself when things calm down.

But what if things aren’t going to magically calm down?

What if taking care of yourself isn’t something you earn after everything else is finished?

What if you don’t need another resolution, another routine, or another promise to become a better version of yourself?

Maybe you just need somewhere to put everything down for an hour.

Somewhere to breathe.
To move.
To soften.
To remember what it feels like to be inside your body instead of constantly asking it to carry you through your life.

Maybe you don’t need to prioritize yourself perfectly.

Maybe you just need to begin.

And maybe September is a pretty good time to stop waiting until January.

If this feels a little too familiar, consider this your gentle invitation. 🤍

If you live n Maryland, SHIFT is currently welcoming new students, and you don’t have to be flexible, experienced, or “good at yoga” to belong here.

Just come as you are.

We’ll meet you there.

Okay, but seriously… 😂

I’m sharing this because I’ve been talking all week about redefining what “progress” looks like, and right now, progress looks a little different around here.

I’m in a particularly spicy phase of perimenopause. The hot flashes are now 20+ a day, sleep is a whole situation, my appetite has apparently developed its own personality, and some days I genuinely don’t feel like myself.

So no… I’m not necessarily “fine.” 😂

But I’m learning that I don’t have to feel great to still be present. I don’t have to have everything figured out to find a little peace. And I don’t have to pretend this season is easy just because I’m still showing up.

Sometimes progress is lifting the weight.
Sometimes it’s resting.
Sometimes it’s taking a breath and reminding yourself, “This is hard, but I’m here.”

And sometimes it’s laughing at the absolute chaos of your hormones because otherwise you might cry in the pantry. 😂

So here I am. Not fine. Not falling apart. Just figuring out how to be present and peaceful in the middle of the mess.

And if you’re in this season too, I hope you know you’re not alone. ❤️

20+ hot flashes a day lately.

And honestly, it’s been a lot.

Some days I feel completely like myself. Other days I feel tired, uncomfortable, and a little disconnected from the person I usually am.

It’s made me think about how much I’ve always associated progress with moving forward. Getting stronger. Doing more. Feeling better.

But lately, it feels less linear than that.

Maybe it’s just learning how to move through all the different kinds of days, without needing every day to feel the same.

I’m still figuring that out. How about you?👇

If we haven’t made it abundantly clear already- We are over it. It’s 2026 and we are creating a different kind of fitness culture.

One where women don’t have to be young, tiny, toned, sexy, or perfectly packaged to be celebrated.

Where the goal isn’t to make your body more pleasing to look at, but to make it stronger, more capable, more resilient, and more yours.

Because this is what we see every day at SHIFT.

Women lifting weights they once thought were too heavy.
Trying something that scared them.
Getting stronger after 40, 50, 60 and beyond.
Learning to trust their bodies instead of constantly criticizing them.
Showing up on the days they feel amazing and the days they absolutely do not.

And honestly? That’s the kind of strong we want to see more of.

Less “look at her body.”

More “look what she can do.”

That’s the memo. 💪
