A world record was broken just over the state line. Bill Lambert, 100, went scuba diving at Pearl Lake in South Beloit, Illinois. He becomes the oldest scuba diver in the world.

This is such a sad, sad and pointless death. That could have been avoided. Both by servicing his gear probably would have discovered the crack and by continuing to train your bailout scenarios even after getting ccr certified. Catching the problem early (and I know its hard but doable by continually repeating your skills) I know he was helping another diver and probably forgot to check his ppo2 numbers while helping and by the time he got done helping it was already to late. But a proper use of backup ppo2 monitoring or switching to open circuit when the computer failed probably would have saved his life.
