🌊🔬 Women in Coastal Science Spotlight!

Meet Dr. Yasmina Shah Esmaeili, marine ecologist and postdoctoral scientist at the University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute!

Yasmina studies coastal biodiversity and ecology, including the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) to better understand and monitor marine ecosystems. She’s also an avid birdwatcher with a special interest in coastal birds! 🐦

Originally from Belgium, Yasmina has followed her passion for marine science from Belgium to Brazil, Maine, and now the Texas coast. She is also a co-founder of the Gulf eDNA Network and Ocean on Tap Texas, helping bring marine science and coastal conservation into local communities.

Join us for a relaxed conversation about her career journey, coastal research, conservation, science communication, and what drew her to the Texas coast.
