Catfishing was pretty good yesterday at Guntersville Dam. Whole and cut shad was the bait of choice. We have fresh shad in stock now !

Joe Stanton of had a good night on Smith lake ! He came in and picked up a couple of bags of fresh caught, Sipsey River shad. Reports from several anglers are that the big channel cats have been on a tear at Smith, the Mulberry River, the Locust Fork River and Lake Catoma. We still have a few bags left ! So if you are wanting to catch some tasty catfish, come on in to the Shiner Shack. In addition to cut and whole shad, Whisper Links catfish bait has been doing well at farm ponds and area lakes.

This is cool, but why didn’t they use a picture of a channel, blue or flathead catfish , not a redtail cat found in the Amazon and its tributaries ?

Whether it’s pulled from a river, raised on a farm or served at a favorite local restaurant, catfish has long been part of Alabama life.

Now, state tourism officials are hoping to turn that tradition into a travel experience with the launch of the Alabama Catfish Trail, a new statewide initiative featuring more than 50 waterways, restaurants, markets, and other destinations connected to Alabama’s catfish culture.

Yes blue cats love “Whisker Links “ too ! Come get yours at the Shiner Shack ! These blues came from the Town Creek area of Guntersville. Fished on a “ Seeker” or “ Carolina Rig” in 8 feet of water. We also have fresh frozen shad and other great catfish bait. Shout out to Randy Thill for the picture . Congrats on the catch.
