United We Remember. 🇺🇸

This morning, our community came together at The Refinery to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the first responders who answered the call that day—and those who continue to serve our communities today.

A heartfelt thank you to the Garden GCHS JROTC Happenings program, Garden City Police Department - KS, Kansas Highway Patrol - Troop E , Finney County Sheriff's Office - KS, Garden City Fire Department - KS, of Garden City, KS – Local Government our local first responders, and the Garden City High School Choirs for joining us and helping make this morning’s memorial so meaningful.

Thank you as well to everyone in our community who walked, gathered, and stood alongside us in remembrance.

We remember the victims. We honor the heroes. We stand together as a community.

Join us on September 11 at 7:00 PM as GCHS takes on Wichita South.

Can’t make it to the stands? Come watch the game with us at Sonny’s Sideline Pizza + Arcade. Grab some food, order a cold drink, let the kids enjoy the arcade, and cheer on the Buffaloes with the community.

🇺🇸 25 Years Later, We Remember Together.

This September 11, we invite our entire community to join us at The Refinery for a morning of remembrance, reflection, and unity.

Beginning at 7:30 AM on Friday, September 11, we will come together to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, recognize the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, and help ensure that a new generation understands why we remember.

The morning will include the GCHS Choir performing the National Anthem, the GCHS JROTC Color Guard, and our Memorial Ruck Run, where community members are invited to walk, jog, or run 2.2 miles together in tribute to the firefighters and first responders of September 11.

This isn’t about how fast you finish. It’s about showing up, remembering together, and honoring those who answered the call when our country needed them most.

Events like this bring incredible athletes to Southwest Kansas, but what makes them even more special is the impact they can have beyond the competition. Seeing young golfers learning, practicing and sharing the course with athletes competing at this level is exactly the kind of opportunity we’re proud to support.

Today’s competitors and tomorrow’s athletes, we believe in creating opportunities for people to learn, compete and grow.

🌎 JUGGLING HIS WAY ACROSS AMERICA!

This week, we had the opportunity to welcome Neriah Guerin to The Refinery as he makes his way across the country on a truly one-of-a-kind journey.

Neriah set out from Los Angeles in June with a goal of reaching New York City on foot — while juggling the entire way.

But his journey is about more than setting a record. Neriah hopes to encourage people to step away from the noise of an increasingly digital world, get outside, stay active and reconnect with the world around them.

His background makes the journey even more interesting. From spinning rifles, flags and sabers in high school to performing with the U.S. Air Force Drill Team and earning five World Drill Championship titles, movement has been a part of Neriah’s life for years.

We were excited to give Neriah a tour of The Refinery Fieldhouse & Event Center on Wednesday while his journey brought him through our area.

Thank you for stopping by, Neriah! We wish you safe travels and plenty of good miles ahead. We’ll be following along and cheering you on as you continue toward New York City! 🇺🇸
