comes at an additional cost. Arriving Clean, Drained, and Dry will help protect Pyramid Lake and get you on the
water faster.
Anyone found that is not in compliance with the inspection process or launches potentially contaminated with
aquatic invasive species may be subject to a fine for unlawful acts up to $5,000. For more details on aquatic
invasive species and Clean, Drain, and Dry procedures, please visit the Pyramid Lake Aquatic Invasive Species

for use, emergency lights, fire extinguisher on board, flare or flare guns in case of emergency, whistles or air horns; wind conditions at the lake can happen suddenly, and boaters must leave the lake when white caps are

FYI
ICYMI: The full closure of U.S. 395 from just south of State Route 108 (Sonora Pass) to just east of Burcham Flat Road through the Sonora Junction Shoulders Project has been EXTENDED until Saturday, September 21 at 5:00 pm due to rain in the forecast.
As of Wednesday morning, crews have approximately 3,200 tons of asphalt left to lay within the project area, and need temperatures of 50-degrees and rising and dry pavement to successfully lay down fresh asphalt.
The current detour around the closure will remain in place. Drivers are reminded that the towns of Bridgeport, Walker, Coleville, and Topaz are fully accessible and open. State Route 108 (Sonora Pass) will remain open through the storm.

This coming Saturday is California free Fishing day! This is for regular 1 rod/pole fishing ( if u want to fish with a 2nd rod, you’ll have to purchase that stamp.
I know that Alpine County has stocked so that is all ready to go for you!
We have some nice day time temperatures and Nice evening temperatures, make water temps pretty good until about 2/3 pm
Mono County should’ve also stocked this coming week also.
Be looking to use hopper dropper rigs; hares ear, copper John’s, you know: the regular Sierra Fare!!
on the East Walker flows are very nice. The Nevada side is fishing very well in the catch and release section. nymphing would probably be your go to. remember we get to fish at night in Nevada!
The California side of the East Walker: CA decided to close it due to the overturning of Bridgeport reservoir. NV biologist from believe that a quarter-mile of the miracle mile section was affected. There wasn’t too many deaths of fish on the on the EW on California side. The dead fish that were being seen on the river were actually coming out of Bridgeport Res.
Here’s my understanding :
BP turned over. Emmitting massive amounts of CO2
This was caused by poor water control in June of 2023, when the dropped water levels to 4k acre feet due to 300% water content snow pack. With the low water the w**d beds had full sunshine to grow exponentially due to the increased exposure of sunlight. Then, with the increased water levels since September 2023, the colder water dropping to the bottom, rotted the vegetation, in turn creating a massive CO2 release when the w**d bed separated from the reservoir bottom.
The dead fish are from B P. And the top 1/4 mile of the EW in the CA did have high levels of CO2 .. the river water stayed off color due to the dirty water of BP, NV is fine with D.O. (Dissolved Oxygen Measurement taken Tuesday, the 20th, on Rosaschi , of 91.4% which is good.
Water temp at 1pm on was 69° though.
My opinion: It really should all fall onto the water master who could have started 180 cfs flows in March when they knew we were at 200% water content, but got greedy … and ruined a fishing season for many through September of 2023
We had 100% water content in situ left over at the end of the ‘23 year, BP was still at 25% and they should have run that river at a minimum of 70-100 cfs.. through the winter.
Have a great time this weekend
We’ll be enjoying the 3 day weekend too !
