Finally some good news. Some progress is being made to getting our property back. It might be 1-2 weeks. Hope this goes smoothly.

Same old, same old. No movement other than all of this is affecting Jim’s and my physical and mental health. Our doctors are concerned.
I heard a new false accusation that came from inside the the bowling center.

Update - we withheld rent for 1 year due to the loss of business because of the leaking roof. It got so bad in some areas that it looked like there was a hose turned on in the ceiling. We were evicted and the landlord refuses to let us inside. There is property that belongs to our business as well as personal items we chose to store there.

We still haven’t heard anything about getting our property from the bowling center. We have thousands of dollars in equipment as well as irreplaceable items, Jim’s scrapbooks when he was bowling professionally, picture of my grandparents wedding and original marriage license over 100 years old l, my birth certificate. We don’t know what is being done with them or if they’re being tossed out.
We don’t have money to hire an attorney for this.

Addition - we did not pay rent for a year because the roof leaked since the 1st day. The year after opening we received a letter stating the roof would be fixed. Never happened. Our property exceeds the amount of rent we owe.

All Jim and I want is to get our property out of the bowling center and move on to retirement. It’s really that simple.

Don’t be nice, it will bite you in the end. Be a good person instead. There is a difference.

I admit here and now, we tried to be nice. Yes, it bit us in the end. Trying to be nice had me doing things that were not good.

I am going back to being good. I am and will be honest.

Take this advice as truth. To say I am disappointed is only a tiny fraction of my feelings.

No questions as I will not respond. Take it at face value.

The closing is bitter sweet for Jim and I. We appreciate the support of this community over the last 9 years. Our customers have been great to work with and many friendships have been made at Winks. I know of one couple that met on our league and got married. Our youth league has created some great bowlers, one of which was named PBA rookie in the western division of 2023. All of our youth bowlers earn scholarships for their futures. The coaches have done an amazing job with the youth and high school team and deserve accolades their work. Thank you coaches. We have a special group of adults and young adults that come in weekly. We will miss each of them beyond words. There are so many things we feel and want to say but this is already too long.

Finally, I want to express our gratitude to our staff, present and past. They made Winks what it was. You became Winks Family. We love you.

Please don’t ask why we are closing. It is personal and frankly it’s equivalent to me asking you about your personal finances,or ask you to explain the reason you made certain decisions in life. That’s none of my business. I want to keep this post civil.

We will still be local for a couple of months and then we will start traveling and making new memories.

Thank you everyone that became a part of our life even if for a short time.

Winks will be open at 5pm to 7pm for customers to pick up their equipment only.

The bowling center will close at 12noon today 4-4-24 due to issues with the landlord. We will open the doors today from 6-7pm for customers to retrieve their personal items. We are hoping this is a temporary closure.

Monday Mayhem! Starting tonight 3/4 For the next few weeks on Monday's we'll be offering Blacklight/Disco Bowling starting at 6pm and UNLIMITED BOWLING $10 per person from 7-9pm. And if the drinks are flowing and the balls are rolling we'll stay open later.

TODAYS DOUGLAS YOUTH BOWLING IS CANCELLED THIS MORNING.
NO WORD YET IF CITY TOURNAMENT AT GOLD DUST WEST IS STILL ON BUT IF SO LEAVE PLENTY OF DRIVE TIME.
