9/11/01. We remember the thousands of innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the countless heroes who ran toward danger to help others.

9/11/12. We also remember Benghazi. Four Americans lost their lives in the attack in Benghazi, Libya. We remember the men who answered the call and fought to protect those around them. This includes Dave “Boon” Benton and Kris “Tanto” Paronto. I had the privilege to have Boon and Tanto as my instructors for a two day defensive pistol class.

We honor their sacrifice, remember those we lost, and recognize those who continue to stand ready to protect others.

This waiter is a hero. Thanks to his bravery and situational awareness, everyone made it home safely. A powerful reminder that being aware of your surroundings, recognizing danger, and being willing to act can make all the difference when seconds matter.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to head to the beautiful mountains of West Virginia with my longtime friend, Matt. We spent the weekend working on my deer blind, shooting, sharing stories, putting in some hard work, and enjoying the outdoors together.

This is what summer is all about! Friendship, tradition, and making memories that last a lifetime.
