🍂 When does Vata season begin—and when should you start preparing for it?
In Ayurveda, Vata season doesn’t necessarily begin on a specific date. Instead, we notice the qualities of the season beginning to change.
The air becomes cooler.
The days get shorter.
The wind picks up.
Everything starts to feel a little drier, lighter and less predictable.
Here in the Midwest, we often begin noticing these shifts in September, with Vata season becoming more dominant throughout the fall and into early winter.
And according to Ayurveda, you don’t have to wait until you’re feeling scattered, depleted or out of balance to respond.
Early September is a beautiful time to begin preparing.
Vata season can simply be an invitation to become a little more intentional.
You might:
🍲 Create greater consistency around meals and sleep
☕ Choose warm, cooked and nourishing foods
🫖 Reach for warm tea instead of another cold drink
🤎 Protect a little more space for rest
🧘♀️ Choose slower, steadier movement when life already feels busy
🌬️ Spend a few quiet moments breathing before moving on to the next thing
You don’t need to completely change your routine.
Ayurveda is often about noticing what’s happening around you—and making small shifts that help create balance within you.
As the world around us begins to change, we can begin to change with it. 🍂

🍂 Autumn is Vata season. And as the world around us becomes cooler, drier, windier, and more changeable, you may notice those same qualities showing up within you.
Feeling a little more scattered, anxious, depleted, or ungrounded lately? Ayurveda offers simple ways to work with the season rather than against it. 🤎
Join Emily for a cozy evening exploring the Vata dosha and learning how grounding foods, herbs, daily rituals, and lifestyle practices can help bring you back into balance.
We’ll finish with a 45-minute gentle yoga practice featuring slow, grounding movement, calming breathwork, and deep rest. Plus, enjoy warming tea and nourishing snacks along the way. ☕️🌿
Come curious. Leave feeling grounded, restored, and ready to move into autumn with intention.

✨ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: DAN DAVIS ✨
If you’ve taken a 6am class at Prana, chances are you’ve seen Dan Davis already on his mat and ready to go! 💪🧘♂️
From CrossFit to Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Tone & Core and—thanks to our Prana Passport—Pilates, Dan isn’t afraid to try something new or something hard.
“I like to push myself to do things that aren’t easy. Consistency is the key.” — Dan
That consistency has helped Dan build strength, improve flexibility and support his arthritic knee—and even led him to discover just how challenging Pilates can be. 😉 As Dan puts it, “You don’t know what’s weak in your body until you try to work with those muscles.”
Dan recently underwent knee replacement surgery, so his beloved routine has temporarily been put on hold. But in true Dan fashion, he’s already looking forward to getting back to his Prana rhythm. ❤️
We love Dan’s willingness to try just about anything, his sense of humor, and the quiet determination he brings to his practice.
Dan, we’re so lucky to have you as part of our Prana community. We can’t wait to see you back on your mat! 🙏 Dan Davis
