Finals match in the Open class

Just 2 tired old dudes trying to get the best of the other.

He was strong and I felt fortunate to have hit my spot yet again. Was a bit frustrating to not get any sweeps but I kept attacking over and over and it was enough to get the ref’s decision.

This gentleman competes (and wins) a lot. I knew his name from the leaderboards etc but had never faced him. This match showed me some things I need to work on. There were lots of opportunities I didn’t see or felt confident enough to exploit/go for. I will be working on them. Trust me.

This was my last match at Purple Belt and the end of a great run at the grand slam events.

I’m excited to get back to the drawing board now and reinvent myself a bit

It is Thursday, Sept 17th and here is our class schedule for today;

600am - ADULTS BJJ ( there were 4 of us on the mats )

315pm - PRIVATE LESSON

500pm - KIDS BJJ

600pm - ADULTS NO GI BJJ

700pm - if anyone would like to join me, I'd like to work on this weeks Judo techniques....

I wasn’t sure who my opponent was going to be for this match as there were several people competing at the same time. And some of them were HUGE.

had never faced this gentleman before and wasn’t sure what his game would be. I knew he was tired as I was watching him after I learned it would be him vs me and he asked for some extra rest.

I was happy it didn’t go the distance so I could be rested for the Gold Medal match.

Stay tuned for that one. I will post that sometime soon

It is Wednesday, Sept 16th and here is our class schedule for today;

600am - ADULTS NO GI BJJ ( there were 3 on the mats )

400pm - KUNG FU OPEN MAT

430pm - STRETCHING

515pm - BJJ FUNDAMENTALS

600pm - ADULTS BJJ

There WILL be a 600am ADULTS BJJ class TOMORROW morning.

Kevin has become a friend and it was fun to get a match against him

I saw him compete at Pans and he was on my radar as a potential problem

Again, I was able to hit my spot after a good guard pull and worked my game. Eventually getting a sweet and mount. I like Kevin so it was tough for me to put him@in some@of those spots. In the end, he tapped to a rnc on his face. Ugh

Then I took a moment and cried a little bit because this was three years in the making. Then to see some of my teammates that came over as my hand was getting raised was amazing

Thanks so much to Ryan, Hannah, Dustin and Omar. Truly. That meant so@much to share that with you all

Hey guys,

For those of you that don’t have Flograppling and didn’t catch my matches at Worlds, here is my first one.

I was a bit worried when I shook my opponent’s hand as he had a super strong grip. I was lucky to be able to my pull and spot to attack. Sadly, he wasn’t aware that going out of bounds like that on purpose is cause for disqualification. Sucks to learn that lesson at worlds. Chris was a good guy and I’m sure I’ll be racing him again down the road

Winning that match put me in the gold medal match, and rested which is a huge advantage
