Getting started with strength training can feel a little intimidating, but it shouldn't be scary.

At LK FITNESS, we know that stepping into a gym or trying a new routine can sometimes feel like facing a haunted house. Maybe you are worried about getting injured, confused by complex exercise jargon, or simply don't know where to start. We are here to take the mystery and the intimidation out of resistance training.

We believe that real, sustainable health is built on a foundation of education and safe progression, never guilt or fear. Here is how we make sure your journey is safe and supportive from day one:

1️⃣ Foundation-First Prep: We always begin with guided dynamic mobility, using tools like PVC pipes to warm up your joints and prime your nervous system before loading any movements.
2️⃣ Credentialed Coaching: Our team blends exercise science with encouraging guidance to teach you correct mechanics. You will know exactly how to move safely and effectively.
3️⃣ Long-Term Habits: Authentic physical and mental development takes time, requiring a minimum of three months of consistent habit building. We help you build a routine that actually lasts.

If you have been holding back because you are not sure what to expect, come see us. Our Georgetown studio is a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space designed for women of all fitness levels.

Personal training is so much more than having someone tell you what to do.

It’s about education, biomechanics, and real-time guidance. When you train at LK FITNESS, every movement is purposeful.

Sustainable strength takes consistency and proper form, not quick fixes.

The rowing machine is one of the most effective, full-body tools in the gym, but only if you know how to use it.

Too often, we see people pulling with their arms first or sliding their hips back before they even start pushing. Not only does this make the workout feel twice as hard, but it also misses the real benefits and puts unnecessary strain on your lower back.

Rowing is actually 60% legs, 20% core, and only 20% arms.

Here is the simple sequence we teach in our sessions to help you move safely and efficiently:

1. The Catch: Start with your arms straight, shoulders relaxed, and shins vertical.
2. The Drive: Push through your legs first. Keep your arms straight and your core tight until your legs are almost extended.
3. The Finish: Lean back slightly (just past 90 degrees) and pull the handle to your ribs.
4. The Recovery: Reverse the order. Hands away first, lean forward from the hips, then bend your knees to slide back to the start.

When you get this timing down, rowing becomes a smooth, powerful, and low-impact way to build cardiovascular endurance and functional strength.

If you are ready to build safe, sustainable habits that actually stick, come join us. Real change takes time, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.

A great workout doesn't start when you pick up the heavy weights. It starts the moment you step onto the mat.

At LK FITNESS, we don't just jump into the hard work. We focus on guided stretching and warming up to prepare your joints, wake up your muscles, and get your mind in the game.

Whether it's opening up your hips in a pigeon stretch or finding length in a downward dog, every movement has a purpose. Having a coach guide your mobility means you move safely, prevent injury, and get the absolute most out of your session.

Real strength is built over time, and it all starts with a solid foundation.

Overhead work isn't just for your arms, it's a massive core builder.

Coach Kristin is guiding our client through a seated dumbbell overhead press. By keeping the elbows slightly forward (in the scapular plane), we protect the shoulder joints while keeping the core braced. Safe, effective strength training starts with proper mechanics.

Why the first 10 minutes of class might be the most important... 👇

If you have ever walked into LK FITNESS session, you know we do not just jump straight onto the barbell. 🏋️‍♀️

Warming up and preparing your body is incredibly important, but how you do it matters. Our warmups are intentional, educational, and designed to set you up for a safe, successful session.

Before we add any weight, you will always see our coaches guiding the clients through dynamic mobility work using bodyweight movements and PVC pipes.

Here is exactly why we prime our bodies this way:

1️⃣ It wakes up the nervous system: Active movements tell your brain and muscles, "Hey, we are about to lift!"
2️⃣ It lubricates your joints: Moving through a full range of motion (like the deep bodyweight squats you see here) gets synovial fluid flowing so your hips and knees move smoothly.
3️⃣ It preps specific movement patterns: Doing dynamic hinges with a PVC pipe prepares your posterior chain for lifts like deadlifts, protecting your lower back.

We save the long, passive stretches for after the workout when we are cooling down. Pre-workout? We move to get ready to move!

Whether you are a seasoned athlete or walking into a gym for the first time, our coaches are right there to guide you through every single step of the prep.

What is your absolute favorite way to warm up? Let us know in the comments! 💬👇

Meet Kristin Klerlein 👋

My love for fitness started at a young age through competitive cheerleading and ballet, which I continued throughout high school. After graduating, I explored different types of training and exercise before discovering CrossFit in 2014—and I was hooked.

Over the years, I developed a passion for strength training and Olympic lifting. Olympic lifting has become my specialty and one of my greatest passions.

I’m excited to now offer personal training to help people reach their individual fitness goals, whether that’s building strength, improving overall fitness, gaining confidence in the gym, or learning and developing their Olympic lifting technique. 💪

Meet Lidyanne Silva 👋

Fitness has always been part of my story. I grew up in a family where movement and fitness were always around me—my mom practiced gymnastics when she was younger, my grandfather was a professional boxer, and my uncle was a Physical Educator and personal trainer. So… I guess you could say it was in my blood! 😂💪

In 2021, I started CrossFit to try something different, move my body, and find a healthy way to release stress and emotions. What I didn’t expect was to find a lifestyle, a community, and honestly… my favorite therapy session. 😄

Since then, I’ve competed, built strength, challenged myself, and discovered how powerful training can be for the body, mind, and confidence.

Now, as a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach, Life Coach, and Personal Training student, my mission is to help others get stronger, feel better, and realize they’re capable of more than they think.
