Every Day, You Have the Power to Save a Life
Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and a little kindness can make a big difference.
At SHOW-SAFE, we believe connection is protection. A safe community extends beyond the show ring. It is built through respect, compassion, and a willingness to look out for one another, including ourselves.
Here are some ways you can show up:
🐾 Ask a friend how they are doing—then really listen without judgement
🐾 Recognize & encourage the skills of a junior exhibitor
🐾 Offer a genuine smile and eye contact in every interaction
🐾 Give others the benefit of the doubt
🐾 Do one small kindness for someone who seems to be struggling
🐾 Practice self-compassion
🐾 Seek out beauty. Find what you are grateful for. And then share it with others.
🐾 Cuddle a dog.
If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. In the United States, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day by calling or texting 988. Save the number. You never know when it will matter to you or someone you care about.
Together, we can create a dog show community where everyone belongs. 💚

🐾 Happy Labor Day from SHOW-SAFE! 🐾
Today, we recognize and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and passion of the people who make our dog show community possible.

Whether you are an exhibitor, judge, handler, breeder, club member, superintendent, ring steward, canine health researcher, groomer, janitorial staff, vet staff, photographer, media, AKC/UKC staff, publisher or one of the countless volunteers and other individuals laboring diligently behind the scenes—your commitment promotes every aspect of the joy of dogs and dog sports.

We are especially grateful for those of you who work every day within this community to foster safe, respectful, and welcoming environments for all participants.

🌟 SHOW-SAFE Junior Spotlight 🌟
At SHOW-SAFE, we believe the future of our sport is built by supporting, encouraging, and celebrating young people who bring passion, dedication, and kindness to the dog show community.

This week, we're proud to recognize Kylie as our Junior Spotlight!

🐾 What do you enjoy most about attending dog shows?
When I attend a dog show I love seeing the different breeds and interacting with the handlers and talking to judges for what I could do better , my favorite is the groups seeing the breeds just by themselves and being the show-stopping dogs they are.

🐾 What made you fall in love with your breed?
My main breeds now are Min pins and Great Dane. Min pins have feisty energy and incredibly smart, but they are a beautiful breed with having the only correct gate and having energy to do what you want them too. Great Danes are the friendly giants of the dog show world just like min pins they love to learn and are very beautiful and being huge is another reason why I like them.

Thank you, Tina Moran, for helping your Junior share their story with us. We're grateful for juniors like you who help make our dog show community stronger, more welcoming, and brighter for the future.

💚 Thank You, Bluegrass Classic Dog Show 💚
What a fun, welcoming weekend! Huge thanks to Lexington for hosting our Junior Gathering — we loved the laughs, connections, and time with so many amazing young exhibitors. 🐾

And to our incredible volunteers: thank you for the time, energy, and heart you brought all weekend. We couldn't do this without you. 💚

Already counting down to the next one. Until then — keep showing, keep learning, keep looking out for one another, and remember: be SHOW-SAFE. 🐶

At the Lexington show, we moved our junior gathering! Instead of the barns, we are now at the meeting room by obedience and rally trials! Can’t wait to see you!! 🎉

🐕🐩🦮🐕‍🦺Happy National Dog Day!
Today we celebrate the dogs that bring us together—the partners who share our homes, our hearts, and our weekends at dog shows.
From a junior's first show dog to a veteran champion, every dog has a unique story and a special place in the lives of those who love them. They teach us patience, responsibility, sportsmanship, and the joy of companionship.
Thank you to the dogs that make this community possible and to the people who dedicate themselves to their care, training, and well-being.
Share a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us what makes them special. We'd love to celebrate them with you!
