- ALCAN 5000 update 9/11- Last Day!
Kudos to Sandra and Becky on yesterdayโs outstanding performance. They moved up two positions into fifth place, which means the PE Motorsports teams now hold both fourth and fifth place. Congratulations to both teams! Now for the final stretch!
Today marks their final day of driving, and they will return to Fairbanks this evening for the awards dinner. Although this experience is coming to an end, I am confident they will return with far more than great memories. They will also bring valuable skills back to work on Monday, including teamwork, collaboration, leadership, problem-solving, risk management, adaptability, and much more.
Teams:
Becky Brophy and Sandra Li (A12)
Alex Bandoski and Josh Magher (A13_1) - I think their GPS is not working

Yesterday the team passed through a town called Chicken, Alaska.
FUN FACT about a Chicken, Alaska
Chicken, Alaska is a quirky, historic gold-mining outpost with a year-round population of just 7 to 15 people
Name Origin:
Spelling trouble: Legend says the town wanted to name itself after the local ptarmigan (Alaska's state bird), but nobody could agree on how to spell it, so they chose "Chicken" instead,
Real origin: Historians note the name likely came from nearby Chicken Creek, which was named because the local gold flakes resembled small "chicken feed" (corn)
*I have actually went Gold Panning in Alaska! It's a blast!
