Whale sharks tangled in a fishing net😡💔 Video from @sy_nautilus his caption below ⬇️
.
Warning! This is a rescue operation!
Powerful images.
Five whale sharks caught in nets.
A far remote and isolated place in Papa became our spot to anchor for the night.

At sunrise a couple locals were messing with a large fish net and asked for our help. The language barrier is unimaginably large on these sides, but we understood that something big was caught in the net. Something they were not aware of what it was.

To my greatest fright, the net was full of whale sharks.
Whoever has exposed these nets is my belief as yet that the goal has not been to catch whale sharks.

5 whale sharks were wrapped tightly in the net with no possibility of escape themselves.
We went back and picked up our diving gear. We also managed to get diving knives, which we kept out of sight of the local fishermen.

The clock is ticking and mission “free whale sharks” was underway. It was stressful to work with such large animals, deep down in the sea, knowing that the next moment they could be suffocated in the fishing net. Work had to be done quickly - without getting entangled!

The fish we see in this part of the world are no joke, they are big and you can quickly lose sight when you are down in the depths, with nets on both sides.

When the last escape, we became close to the net to make sure that the accident did not repeat. The last escape whale shark began to sink towards the bottom. We followed it deep into the murky waters. When it reached a depth of 40m it started to cramp with the gills - signs of life! The oxygen is flowing past the gills and it started swimming again.
What a day to be alive!
