At Level Up Boxing we start them young. My youngest daughter having fun in our new gym.

People that I know who are successful today, most all of them have had adversity in their life. It's prepared them for where and who they are now. From what I have learned in my 22 years of coaching, I don’t think you could develop character or champions without challenge and adversity.
•We must challenge ourselves as coaches and athletes to go beyond ourselves by striving for excellence and refusing to accept mediocrity in both our professional and personal lives which often times means overcoming our ego. We should always be learning, growing, and changing, in order for us to develop into our full potential. You have to see yourself and others not as they are but for who you can become.
•It first begins with….
DISCIPLINE and OBEDIENCE. Build a team who will come to love each other and will fight for each other and what is right for the right reasons…which then leads to….
LOYALTY and ENTHUSIASM. A team who will sacrifice and train themselves beyond what they think they can…which then builds….
COURAGE and RESOLVE. A team who will stand for what’s right and do what is right for the greater good of the team.
•In order to be a great leader, athlete, father, husband, wife etc. in the long run, you have to have the same skill sets it takes to be a good Christian man. Being a Christian is about…Faith, courage, trust, sacrifice, love, discipline, obedience, loyalty, fortitude, and resolve. So it is with the leading and the making of champions both in and out of the ring.
•You can't bring honor to God when you are chained to the opinions of man or even your own..
•You all can continue to do it your way, regardless, my good Lord the King of kings will continue to do it His. God’s ways are always the best ways.

The supreme model of leadership whether sports, business or parenting is to have servants hearts and exemplify sacrifice. Why? Because Leadership is influence. •It is someone whose life and character influence change, motivation and/or inspire others to become all that God has created them to be.
•It matters not how much creditably or clout someone has. It takes more than a title or position or tough talk to be a real man, a strong man, a man of God.
•The best kind of leadership derives itself Not from power, prestige or selfish ambition, but from righteous ambition.
•Much of todays leadership is more manipulation of people or children by either threats or rewards.
- that is not true leadership that is exploitation.
•True leadership seeks to motivate people from the inside out. Proverbs 29:2 states, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
•Righteousness is not niceness, friendliness, politeness, or optimism. It is synonymous with the word justice.
- by an appeal to their hearts.
- Not by external manipulation, pressure or coercion.
•Wickedness is not meanness, rudeness, militancy or pessimism. Wickedness is that which is contrary to God's holy rule, and law.
•For example, teaching your children to love and serve the Lord above all is righteous, and teaching your children to serve themselves, or the love of the world is wickedness according to God. So in a nutshell, effective Leadership is about character.
•According to Jesus Christ, “Character is the true test of great leadership.”
•If you don’t have character to influence people they still may follow but your strategic plan in the end will fail.
•A real leader’s influence is an example to follow. It takes more than a title or position or tough talk to be a real man, a man made in the image of God.
•Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.”
