Good Morning, World! From Elvis

After six years of no problems with our feed bags stacked in the tack room, we have been invaded by mice from the neighbors overgrown field! These bins came highly recommended on a barn tips site. They aren’t cheap but if they work and last, it will be worth it! The lids slide easily so no more popping off lids and trying to get them back on tight. Plus they are on wheels so moving for sweeping is much easier. The large one holds three bags of Nutrena Safe Choice.

So far so good. Our mice are tenacious. I found one that had climbed up a trash can and couldn’t get out. I have seen evidence where they have been in top of the new bins but they can’t get in.

A barn cat has moved in and is enjoying the mice that are living in the field behind and invading us. We want to welcome this kitty! She looks like she is eating well and she is enjoying her new accommodations. The neighbor kids and our Director are calling kitty Cliche because every name they came up with was too cliche! Can’t get close enough to see if male or female.

The neighbors little banty rooster decided he likes his freedom! I shooed him back a couple times (he can get back into his yard) but he likes our field and the horses! Maybe it’s just that the bugs are extra juicy?

Silly boys! Pulling down mulberry branches for a mid morning snack! They sure do love those leaves!

Yesterday, I overflowed the field water tank and went to shut it off. As I came around the corner, I found our little hawk friend cooling off a bit in the water! Isn’t he or she beautiful?

Our horses are pretty picky about their hay. When they don’t like it, there is a lot of waste. Matrix is not a fan of the new alfalfa. He decided to show us what he thought by filling his water bucket with it! Maybe it’s like putting cucumbers in water or something?
