Stafford Lincoln Tech Open 80 8/20/21

[08/23/21]   This past Friday the team had it’s second and final open 80 race at Stafford. It started out as a beautiful day and right after our 1st practice the rain rolled in and delayed the session for about 45 mins. After that we ran our 2nd practice and got ready for the heat. In the heat we started P7 and ended up P8. In the feature we started P23. The 1st 10-15 laps Robert and the car seemed to like the outside groove as he was making making passes. On lap 33 there was an incident in turn 4 where cars in front of Robert had to check up he did as well but no caution was thrown. This allowed the cars in front to pull away from Robert a little bit and we ended up going a lap down a couple laps later. On lap 50 Roberts RR had enough as it could handle and going in to turn 3 he lost control and spun which brought out the first caution. We came down for a pit stop to change the RR and the team did a great job of getting him back out. 15 laps after the restart a spin on the front stretch caused the caution to come back out which gave robert the Lucky dog and he got his lap back. On the restart robert got by a couple of cars before yet another caution came out. On the final restart robert held his own and brought home a P19 finish. The in car video will be up sometime this week.

This past weekend the team traveled to Monadnock Speedway for the Wonder Casino 100. This was Roberts first time ever being at the track. In practice he was trying to find his way around the track. The car was pretty decent for the 1st two times on the track but kept being loose out of the corners so the team made some adjustments to help with that. We started P9 for the heat and held steady at P9. In the feature we started P25 and hung there up until lap 33 when the bumps on the bottom of the track knocked the muffler off. Robert pulled in to see what we could do and a miscommunication between the team and officials saw Robert not be able to not make it out before going green. We ended up finishing P26.

[07/25/21]   This weekend the team traveled to Star Speedway in Epping, NH for the SBM 125. 40 cars showed up for the event. In practice we got the car moving in the right direction setup wise and Robert was able to make about 50 laps in the session. We started last in our heat where they only took 4 but ended up finishing last in the heat. The team made some adjustments and got ready to roll out for the consi. Robert was slated to start P10 but a car didn’t make it out for the consi so robert moved up to P9 for the start where they were only take 3. The start of the race robert made some good moves to go from P9 to P7 on the first lap of the consi. A caution came out on the restart Robert held his own. Toward the middle of the consi the car started to go away from him a little bit and slipped back to P8 where he would finish. We will have the GoPro video up from the practice and heat(consi video didn’t record) up on our YouTube channel soon.

BIG STAGE: Tri Track Returns to Star Speedway With Big Money On the Line in 10th Annual SBM Classic This Saturday 👀🎇

By Souza Media/Kyle Souza

SEEKONK, Mass. -- Over 35 of the best asphalt Modified drivers from across the Northeast will come together at New Hampshire’s Star Speedway this Saturday, July 24. In the third race of the Tri Track Open Modified Series season, the 10th annual SBM Classic, drivers will chase a purse of over $65,000. Tri Track will post the normal purse of just over $40,000, followed by additional bonus funds that will be distributed by racing journalist Kevin Rice and the track, post-race. The race is set to be the highest paying in the history of Star Speedway.

With only two of the six events on the 2021 schedule in the record books, the series has two different winners, and a championship leader who has been the most consistent. Sam Rameau won the opener at Monadnock Speedway on May 1, and Jon McKennedy followed it up with victory at Star on May 22. The annual Open Wheel Wednesday, which was originally scheduled for June 30 at Seekonk Speedway, was postponed due to a power outage until August 25, and will now act as the fifth race.

This means Saturday’s action at Star is the first of three races in the next month. McKennedy dominated the race at Star, and is heading back looking to sweep both visits at the oval. Rameau, who was the top contender at Monadnock, looks to rebound from a finish outside the top-10 at Star in May. They will be joined by NASCAR Cup Series regular Ryan Preece, series points leader Ron Silk, Ronnie Williams, Justin Bonsignore, Les Hinckley, Anthony Nocella, Matt Swanson, five-time series champion Matt Hirschman, and more. A full expected entry list for the race is available at the bottom of this story.

Silk leads Rameau by eight points in the championship standings, with Hinckley in third, 14 points back, and Hirschman fourth, 15 points from the lead. Anthony Sesely, Woody Pitkat and Chris Pasteryak follow in the standings. The Star event will mark the midway point in the chase for the Tri Track championship trophy.

Since Tri Track became part of the SBM event, McKennedy (2014), Hirschman (2016, 2017 & 2020), Todd Patnode (2018) and Silk (2019) have been to Victory Lane.

The race also marks the fifth of 10 events in the Call 811 Before You Dig Modified Challenge -- a combination of the six Tri Track events and four Stafford Motor Speedway Open Modified shows. Points are awarded to top-10 finishers in each event, with 10 going to the winner, 9 to second, 8 to third, and so on, down through the top-10. After the first four races, Preece leads the standings with 20 points, over Williams, who is four points back. Nocella, Silk and Mike Christopher Jr. currently finish the top-five. Following Saturday’s race at Star, the next race in the Call Before You Dig series will be the Open Modified 80 at Stafford on July 30.

There is an optional practice day for Tri Track race teams on Friday, July 23, from 3-7 p.m. Teams that are interested must pre-register with the track. Tickets for Saturday’s race day are $30 for adults, with seniors, juniors (11-16) and military set at $25. For children ages 4-10, entry is just $10, and kids four and under are free. Pit passes will also be available to the general public for $40 for Star members and $45 for non-members.

Star Speedway’s own J&S Paving 350 Supermodifieds are set to compete in a 40-lap Marco Turcotte Memorial special, joined by the MLM Diagnostic Pure Stocks, Murphy and Son’s Roofing Six Shooters and K-Cobb Slingshots. All Star divisions will compete in both qualifying and feature racing.

Modified Madness 100 Consi 6/30/20 Ride along with Robert as he tries to go from P12 to the top 3 to make the field for the Modified Madness 100 at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Ma

[07/03/21]   Wednesday the team travelled to Seekonk Speedeay in Massachusetts for the Speed 51 Modified Madness 100. It was the team and Roberts first time ever racing on the track as well as Roberts first time seeing the track. In practice robert was learning the line and how hard he could push the car and he got better with every time back on the track. After the 3rd time on the track the team made some changes and tried to get back on the track but was waved off(along with a couple other cars) because practice was closer with time still on the board.

In the heat they were taking the top 4 and with the field they had we knew it would be a difficult heat. Robert ended up 9th but put in personal best laps for the heat and with the forecast looking bad the officials told us it would be a quick turnaround for the consi.

For the consi the team made 4 changes to the car to help Robert. We were in the 1st consi and they were taking 3. Robert started 12th but in the heat before our consi the track lost power and decided to run the heat and consi’s with no track lights. Robert looked to have found his groove in the consi and found a line he liked and moved from P12 to P7. We had a little bit of damage at the end of the race after an incident where robert had no one to go but did his best to avoid it.(in car video will be up soon). Overall the team is pretty happy with how this outing went.
