It's that time of year again for the Stefanie Ashdown Memorial "Do Your Best" 5k. The race this year is going to be on Sept. 8th at 8am. The race is going to be held at Belvedere Elementary School, located in Arnold, MD. Even if you aren't local you can still support Stef Ripple by being a virtual runner, or by making a donation. We all know Jan.1st is a busy time for fitness and wellness but did you know that the second busiest time is when the kids go back to school? This 5k fundraiser is the perfect way to kick your fitness into high gear as well as support an amazing cause. If you are not local to the area feel free to share it with others who may be.

You might be surprised to know that although I am a fitness instructor and health coach I haven't been to the gym on a regular bases in years. Oh I may stop in and join a cardio dance class every once in a blue moon or I may try the newest piece of gym equipment but my "regular' gym is the hallway from my foyer to the kitchen and my gym equipment is my body and a set of dumbbells. I spend no more than 30 minutes 5 times a week and at 52 I am in the best shape of my life. Make time for yourself! I promise you won't regret it. Need help getting started? Is this chicken fried rice or chicken fried cauliflower? I replace cauliflower in just about any recipe that calls for rice. The taste is yummy and what a great way to get more fiber and to feel full longer.
