September 11, 2001, changed our country and our community forever. It was a day that brought unimaginable tragedy, but it also revealed extraordinary courage, compassion, and unity. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost 25 years ago. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger while others ran away. We remember the families who lost loved ones and the many who continue to carry that loss 25 years later.
And we remember where we were. Twenty-five years ago today, many of us can still picture the room we were in, the people we were with, or the moment we first heard that something was terribly wrong. Those memories may be 25 years old, but for many, they remain remarkably clear.
