🌿 Athlete Spotlight Q&A with
- How did you get those drumstick legs? 🍗
When it comes to building the wheels there are a few cornerstones you have to take into account. The first rule of building out your legs is simple. Eat. It doesn’t matter what you’re trying to grow, a caloric surplus is a necessity if you want you add some size. When we’re talking about training legs this gets even more important. Leg days are grueling, so making sure you have enough glycogen (carbs) in your body prior to training is vital. The rule of thumb is a significant portion of your daily carbs up to and before two hours prior to training. You have a limited amount of blood in your body, and it’s going to divert to a variety of locations depending on your activity. Most people believe that if you’re training your body makes that the priority, and that’s not actually true. Your body will send a significant amount of blood to your digestive tract if you eat anything within two hours of training. The next rule has to do with what’s called ROM or Range of motion. People tend to overlook dynamic warm-ups because they think they’ll get more out of a workout if they spend the whole time pushing themselves to the limit. That’s another fallacy. Preparing both the muscle groups and the metabolic systems for training results in a significant increase in both growth and recovery. Incorporating legitimate warm ups took my haphazardly put together legs (two torn ACL’s and a fully torn Hamstring) back in a place where I could train the way I wanted to. The third is to broaden your horizons when it comes different types of training. I was one of those guys who refused to try new types of equipment because I thought I knew what was right, and to my surprise the Kettlebell eventually became one of my all-time favorite pieces of equipment for training legs. Never-stop can help you with the supplementation you need - and give you one of the best warm up hoodies to date. If you get those two things in order your bound to put some spinners on those wheels in no time.
