Hey tennis fans! Glenview's Own Nikita Fillin takes the court on Wednesday, Aug. 28 with doubles partner Alex Razeghi in their first-ever main draw match on Court #11 at the US Open Tennis Championships in New York. We are cheering for you Nikita and Alex!

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄—𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸!

At just 18 years old, this Ohio State freshman, along with his talented doubles partner Alex Razeghi, earned their spot in the U.S. Open by clinching the doubles title at the USTA National Boys’ 18s Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 10. (𝘚𝘦𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘸. 𝘕𝘪𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵. 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘹 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬). Their remarkable teamwork and grit have earned them a place in the main draw of the Men’s Doubles.

Nikita and Alex’s bond goes way back. They’ve been friends since they represented the USA at Le Petit As in Tarbes, France, as 13-year-olds!

A Glenview native, Nikita has honed his skills for over 7 years at the Glenview Tennis Club under the guidance of CTA Coach Mark Bey. This summer, Nikita has been pushing his game to the next level, practicing alongside NCAA champions JJ Tracy and Robert Cash, as well as ATP Top 200 player JJ Wolf.

Coach Bey, who has been instrumental in Nikita’s development, is right by his side in Flushing, helping him prepare for the challenges ahead. Nikita’s college coach, Ohio State Men’s Tennis Coach Ty Tucker will also be on court watching Glenview's own rising star compete against some of the best talent in the world.

Congratulations to General Manager Mark Baladad on your induction this past weekend to the Ripon College Red Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame! In four seasons with Ripon men’s tennis, Mark won four Midwest Conference championships with doubles partner Zsolt Juhasz. Mark was also a two-time Midwest Conference singles champion during his college career.

This week, we will be recognizing our 2024 Ripon College Athletic Hall of Fame class. Today's honorees are Mark Baladad and Zsolt Juhasz, class of 1988.

In four seasons with Ripon men’s tennis, Baladad won four team Midwest Conference championships, doing so from 1985-88. Baladad is a four-time Midwest Conference champion in doubles, part of the only duo in school history to accomplish that feat, and is also a two-time Midwest Conference singles champion – one of 16 players in school history to do so. In doubles, he was a conference champion on the second flight (once) and the top flight (three times) with Zsolt Juhasz. In singles, he won conference titles on the third and fifth lines. Baladad is second in school history for doubles wins with a partner, collecting 68 with Juhasz. His doubles winning percentage of 86.1% with Juhasz is also third-best in school history.

Juhasz was a part of one of the most successful runs in Ripon men’s tennis history. A four-time Midwest Conference team champion, Juhasz was a three-time Midwest Conference singles champion – one of seven players in program history to accomplish this – and is part of the only doubles tandem in school history to win four MWC championships. He ranks eighth in school history for career singles victories, sporting a 66-12 record, and is second in school history for most wins by a doubles team after collecting 68 with teammate Mark Baladad. In singles, he won conference championships on the second, third and fourth lines. In doubles, he won at the number two flight once and the top flight three times – all with Baladad. He and Baladad won 86.1% of their doubles matches together, good for the third-highest doubles winning percentage in school history.
