Saturday night's Kissing Bridge Ski Patrol Awards Banquet was a great evening. Kissing Bridge did a wonderful job with the dinner and drinks, and it was nice to see the lodge serving as the backdrop without a blanket of snow outside for a change.

The night was filled with milestone anniversary awards recognizing years of dedication and service to the patrol. Congratulations also go to Ryan on being named Patroller of the Year, a well-deserved honor. Ryan is always willing to go above and beyond, whether it's training and mentoring S&T candidates, organizing the annual ski swap, or simply stepping up to work countless patrol shifts whenever needed.

Congratulations as well to Duncan on receiving the Yellow Merit Star, a prestigious National Ski Patrol award recognizing outstanding service and dedication to the patrol. It is a well-earned recognition of the countless hours and commitment he has given to our organization.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the posthumous presentation of the Green Merit Star to Simon's wife. This award is presented for an outstanding act of heroism and recognizes Simon's final selfless act, when he gave his life protecting his family. It was a moving tribute to a man who exemplified service, courage, and putting others before himself.

The evening was also a little bittersweet. As we celebrated another successful season and recognized the accomplishments of our members, we were reminded of the three patrollers we lost this year. Their absence was certainly felt, and they remained in the thoughts of many throughout the night. While they were deeply missed, their contributions to the patrol and the friendships they built continue to be part of who we are.

Congratulations to all of this year's award recipients and anniversary honorees. Our patrol is built on service, friendship, and dedication to others. Saturday night was a reminder not only of what we accomplish together, but also of the lasting impact the people beside us make on our lives, both on and off the mountain.

Long season has come to an end. KB did an amazing job this year.

The day after a long shift hits a little different. Our patrollers head back to their regular jobs feeling it, mentally and physically. That’s the part most people don’t see. Kissing Bridge Ski Patrol is made up entirely of volunteers. They’re out there handling injuries, taking care of patients and their families, working in the cold, opening and closing hills, dealing with complaints, and keeping it all together and moving forward.

They do it because they care about the mountain and the people on it.

There’s something about this group that’s hard to explain. The friendships, the trust, the way everyone just knows what to do when things go sideways. Any one of the patrollers can step in without being told and handle it. That level of training and dedication shows every single day.

This season carried a little more weight. The patrol lost one of their own, and that’s something you don’t just move past. You carry it with you.

By the end of the season, it’s time to step away for a bit. Time to recover, heal up, and spend time with family and friends. Reset before doing it all over again next season.

There’s something special about earning the red coat.
It doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from early mornings, long Saturdays, and a season of learning what it truly means to take care of people on the mountain.
Hours of first aid training, sled and toboggan work, and learning the skills that guests may never see but will rely on when it matters most.

These new patrollers showed up week after week. They put in the work, learned from those who came before them, and pushed themselves to get better every day.

Today they earned their red coats.

Kissing Bridge Ski Patrol Meet & Greet on March 15th! This is a great opportunity to meet our patrol director, members of our training team, and some of the patrollers.

This informal gathering will give you the chance to learn more about what it takes to become a ski patroller, ask questions, and connect with others who share your passion for skiing and mountain safety.

Today we join skiers and mountain communities around the world in recognizing International Ski Patrol Day — a moment to honor the men and women who volunteer their time, their expertise, and their hearts to keep our hills safe.

For those long days before dawn and the cold nights waiting on sweep, for every rescue, every assessed slope, and every moment spent making sure others can enjoy their day with confidence, thank you. Ski patrollers give more than effort; they give care, encouragement, and compassion. They stand ready, not for applause, but for the call to help someone in need.

To all ski patrols volunteer and professional alike your dedication makes our mountains not just safer, but better. Today we salute you and celebrate the spirit of service you bring to every resort, every run, and every guest you protect.

It’s been a long, heavy week with the loss of one of our own. But in the middle of all of it, we are reminded just how incredible this ski patrol family truly is.
Through the grief, everyone showed up for each other, checking in, stepping up, supporting one another in every possible way, while still giving everything they had to care for those who needed us at Kissing Bridge. That kind of strength, compassion, and dedication isn’t something you can teach. It’s who these people are.
You really can’t ask for a better group. Proud to be part of this amazing team. ❤️⛷️🛷

This loss of a ski patroller hits especially hard for those of us who dedicate our time and hearts to taking care of others. Last night, we lost a dear friend, Simon Lissner, a man who truly embodied everything good about the Kissing Bridge Ski Patrol.

Simon seemed to work just about every shift, and those of us lucky enough to share a shift with him knew him as an exceptional patroller and a friend everyone could count on. Whether he was opening or closing the mountain, swapping sleds, caring for a patient, stepping up for an extra shift, or simply sharing a quiet moment on the lift to help us decompress, he was always there. (And, of course, he always made sure the Bills game was on.)

Simon never hesitated to put in the extra effort, doing so quietly, with a smile on his face, and without complaint. He made everyone around him better, and he was the kind of friend you were grateful to have beside you during a long night.

His final act in this world was giving of himself to protect his family, the ultimate reflection of the man and patroller he always was.

Late Night, Great Night at
Fresh snow, a busy mountain, and guests who were kind, safe, and clearly having a blast. Always great catching up with patrollers I used to share shifts with — those connections never fade.
Long day ending at 1am, but seeing Kissing Bridge this alive makes it 100% worth it.
