To my students,

As we get ready for this weekend’s tournament, I think we all know this is not the same as any other tournament. It does not matter if you have been to hundreds of tournaments or just a handful. This one will be different. This one will be hard.

For those of you who have decided to do the hard thing this weekend and get out there and compete, we are all here with you. We are doing this together as a team.

This weekend is not about what we win. It is about pushing ourselves past what life has thrown at us. We are going to walk into that tournament one step at a time, complete our forms one move at a time, and finish our matches one round at a time.

Some moments we may feel strong. Other moments, we may be crawling, falling, crying, or simply doing everything we can to take the next step. All of that is acceptable. Quitting is not.

Success is found in what we choose to do with today.

So help each other. Cheer each other on. Be there through both the victories and the defeats, because this weekend’s greatest victory will be found in lifting each other up.

One thing we value deeply at Texas Elite is recognizing the glimmer of greatness in someone or something and helping turn that glimmer into something extraordinary.

This summer, we saw that glimmer in Mr. & Mrs. Zarate and Aggieland Martial Arts. They had a small but mighty school led by an instructor with a tremendous heart and a genuine passion for his students. All they were missing was family standing beside them.

So, we did what we do best. We jumped in, identified the gaps, filled them, and lifted them up.

Now, just a few weeks later, we are incredibly proud to partner with Josh & Jessy Zarate, Chris & Belen Allen and welcome Aggieland Martial Arts into the Texas Elite family!

Students will continue receiving Mr. Zarate’s excellent traditional Taekwondo instruction. In addition, Legacy students will receive new training, leadership opportunities, and expanded curriculum designed to help every student become the leader Mr. Zarate already sees within them.

What does this mean for our students?

You may see new leaders stepping onto the mats. You may have opportunities to build your confidence by serving in a leadership role. You may even gain valuable high school and college-level business training.

Aggieland Martial Arts was already a great school. We cannot wait to stand beside Mr. Zarate, support his vision, and help make this mighty school even stronger.
