⚫️Words cannot even begin to express our excitement for this year’s Open! 🔴 Both teams knocked it out of the park! For three straight weeks! What energy!! The spirit, the competition, the love, the family of it all. You all pushed past self-doubt, past pain, past self-consciousnes and you took risks and showed up for one another!! That is the true victory for ALL OF US. We are so proud of everyone and so incredibly thankful for your hard work and your non-stop commitment to one another. Without further ado, drumroll please 🥁

Cyclones 6️⃣4️⃣3️⃣

The winner of the Sweat Award – the individual who most embodies CFFS traits of grit, grace and gratitude – could not be narrowed down to just one person. Equal votes went to Kevin Spencer 🔴and Megan Coy ⚫️.

Kevin, a bearded blur of red, was heavily involved throughout every minute of this three weeks, well before the Viking hat entered the picture. If you’ve ever been around him, you know he leaves it all on the field. He cheered on every single person, helped newer members navigate the Open, brought friends to drop in classes and chili for the final cook-off and was always up for the relay! His smile and spirit are contagious ❤️

Megan Coy was not able to participate in the way she would have most liked, but her level of support and dedication (while having full use of only one arm!) was especially remarkable. It would be easy to get frustrated by being sidelined and either not show up or just remain on the periphery. Instead, she volunteered to judge many fellow athletes and did so with a full heart. We would often find her on the floor loudly cheering for people she didn’t yet know. She threw herself into the team relays with one arm. She participated in the WODs as much as possible in order to achieve a score and therefore help her team.

2024 Open was the BEST one yet, but let's discuss athletics another time.

Today's news is that Katie Jo Becker WON first place in our Chili Cookoff held during the 24.3 FNL event 🌶️ - Chili number 8️⃣

The competition was intense, with 10 delicious chilis prepared by our talented chefs. It was hard to pick the winner as all the entries were so good and our bellies were full.

Congratulations to Katie for coming out on top 🥇

🔰Please note that tomorrow, Friday the 15th last class of the day will be held at 9am. Open Gym is from 12pm to 2pm. This is to allow for our final FNL (Friday Night Lights) preparation.

🔰We strongly encourage you to join your community and do your Open workout tomorrow during FNL. However, if you're unable to do so, you're welcome to complete it from Friday through Monday during Open Gym hours ONLY. Please reach out to Coach Gabrielle Terry to reserve your spot and a registered judge. We will not be able to accommodate judging during class time.

Friends, please read on 👇🏼A couple of announcements regarding tomorrow's schedule.

⚫️Firstly, there will be no afternoon classes due to the final FNL preparations. Depending on the 24.3 workout, we will set up as many heats as possible to make sure everyone gets a chance to participate. Judges, please remember to drink plenty of water, take your vitamins and get ready for the fun!

🔴Secondly, we will be having a chili cookoff, and there will be 10 stations ready for your crockpots. We will provide tables and extension cords, but please bring your own toppings, ladle, utensils and paper cups for your station. Each chili will be assigned a number to ensure anonymity. For any and all questions regarding cookoff setup please text Maya.

24.3 will be announced at 2pm today!! Get excited! 💪🏼

🔴Get ready to showcase your culinary skills in the Chili Cookoff!⚫️

It's time to put your claims to the test and earn your team five points by preparing the best chili recipe. With five pots of chili per team, you can either make it alone or with a group.

Remember, no outside assistance is allowed, so let your team spirit shine through!

The final FNL of the season is just around the corner, and we'll be celebrating with a chili testing session and a party after the final Heat. Bring your best chili to the gym and let's make this a night to remember! 🌶️

Don't forget to reach out to your team captains or directly to Maya for all the details. Let's go! 🔥

For all of you who've been asking about personal training here's an opportunity 👇🏼

Coach Claire is offering personalized one-on-one personal training sessions tailored for individuals focused on gymnastics and/or Olympic lifting. There are only two spots left for March, so act fast!

Each session lasts 60 minutes and is designed for members who are committed to achieving specific goals and require more individualized attention.

Participants will receive customized programming to address their unique needs, along with accessory exercises and mobility routines aimed at enhancing strength and stability in gymnastics and Olympic lifting.

Regular check-ins from coach Claire are included to ensure progress and accountability. To participate, individuals must commit to one month of training, with the option of attending up to three sessions per week.

Claire joined CFFS in October of 2019 with her husband, Kyle, and baby Denym in tow. With her quiet tenacity and her always-coachable attitude, she made significant gains quickly and pushed herself to get better in every way. She stood out in her physical abilities, of course, but also in her character and her strong teamwork ethic. Though some might initially perceive her reserve as distance, she is warm, funny, thoughtful, and profoundly passionate about helping others reach their goals. She’s also tough as nails 💪🏻

In early 2021, Claire came on board as a coach at CFFS and has deepened her coaching skillset ever since. Her degree from A&M (yes, we know, gig ‘em) in sports management allowed her to hit the ground running. She headed up our CrossFit Kids program when it was offered and taught those tykes all about fitness! In addition to having a second child (the famous Stevie Jo) in that time period, she also successfully pursued her CrossFit-L2 and will soon be taking her L3. Whenever there are administrative needs (big or small), she is quick to help and reliable in her ex*****on; essentially, she has made herself indispensable. Overall, she takes her role as coach and team member very seriously and loves her people with intensity and loyalty 🏋🏼‍♀️

Claire embodies a humble never-quit attitude and generous spirit, and we are thankful for her every day. We know she will continue to do great things and are excited to be on this journey together.
