📣✨ EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! ✨📣

We are so excited to officially introduce the newest acquisitions to Sunflower Lusitanos — Ximango d’Noble & Xogun d’Noble! 🌻🇵🇹

These two beautiful 2026 APSL colts are the newest additions to our program, and after having the opportunity to meet them in person this past weekend, we couldn’t be more excited about their futures.

Both boys immediately impressed us with their athleticism, beautiful conformation, inquisitive personalities, and wonderful dispositions—all qualities we look for when selecting young Lusitanos for our program. We are thrilled to watch them grow and eventually begin their development with us as future dressage and performance prospects.

A huge thank you to Casa do Noble Lusitanos for continuing to thoughtfully breed such lovely young horses and for producing Lusitanos with the quality, mind, and athletic ability we value so highly. 💛

What an absolute blast we had visiting our friend Michelle Clarke Casa do Noble Lusitanos. We had an excellent time seeing the 2026 foals, Michelle’s beautiful broodmares, and the Casa do Noble farm. We did have a successful trip… more to come on that tomorrow 😉😉😉 exciting stuff!

With this summer being such a whirlwind of weekly horse shows, starting youngsters, training horses, and the everyday hustle and bustle of life, I realized I completely forgot to share something pretty special! 🌻🐴

Earlier this summer, the Connecticut Dressage Association sat down with me for an interview where I got to share a little more about my horse, Zip In The Money, who won the Vista Vintage award in 2025, my journey in dressage, the horses who have shaped me along the way, my love for the Lusitano breed, and some of my goals for the future.

I’m so grateful to be part of such a welcoming dressage community here in Connecticut and wanted to finally share the interview with all of you!

Something we often see at horse shows is people struggling to load their horses onto the trailer—and for us, trailer loading starts long before show day.

When training our horses, we look at the horse as a whole. We strongly believe that groundwork and under-saddle work go hand in hand. The confidence, communication, and willingness we develop on the ground directly carry over into the saddle—and into everyday situations like trailering.

Some of the horses who have come into our program with the biggest challenges have gained incredible confidence through our groundwork. It’s a process, and it doesn’t happen overnight, but the goal is always to create a horse who understands how to think through a situation rather than simply react to it.

I’m using this reposted video from March of last year from when we first taught Raptora d’Noble, Tora, a young Lusitano mare, as perfect example. As shown in this video, she confidently liberty loads herself onto the trailer—no ropes, no pressure, no struggle. Just a horse who understands the question and willingly says, “Sure thing!” 💗

We prioritize our horses being able to load and unload willingly, calmly, and happily because trailering is simply another piece of creating a confident, well-rounded horse, and also alleviates any worries about the horses injuring themselves in the process of being loaded or traveling.

Our strong background in horsemanship is at the forefront of our program. Dressage may be what we do, but good horsemanship is the foundation behind everything we do. 🌻🐴

🌊 Dressage by the Sea? More like Dressage IN the Sea! 😂🌧️
Quiche and Bonnie got some more valuable mileage today at MVHC, continuing to build confidence and experience at their respective levels.
Despite the very wet and ever-changing conditions, both horses were absolute troopers. Sometimes show days aren’t about perfect conditions—they’re about gaining experience, building confidence, and making the most of whatever Mother Nature throws your way!
A highlight of the day was Bonnie and I earning a 9 for her halt and salute in her First T3! 💗
Team Sunflower came home with a 🥈 2nd, 🥉 3rd, and 5th place to top off another productive day in the show ring. 🌻💛
Proud of these two and the progress they continue to make!
