🎃🍪 Miss Bonnie has been working very hard on perfecting her Halloween costume this year… a black and white cookie! 🖤🤍
I think today's attempt may have been the rendition so far! 🫣 what do you think?

Another talented youngster beginning their riding journey! Urquiza d’Noble “Izzy”, owned by Stephanie Prato is already acting like a pro on her very first ride. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this one!

Forgot to post this on Sunday, but what a fun day spent scribing at the Connecticut Dressage & Combined Training Association (CDCTA) show at DeCarli Farm with judge Augusta van Tongeren! 🐴📝

It was such an interesting and educational experience getting to view rides from the judge’s perspective for once!

Scribing is a fantastic opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what judges are looking for, how they evaluate each movement, and the details that can make a difference in your scores. Being able to listen to the judge’s comments in real time while watching each test unfold offers a completely different perspective than what we experience in the saddle.

As both a trainer and competitor, I think it’s so important to continue learning and expanding our knowledge of the sport. There is always something to take away from experiences like these that can help us become better riders, trainers, and instructors.

Education in dressage extends far beyond the saddle! 🌻🐴

🚛🐴 The new “Lusitano Express” has arrived! 🌻✨

We are beyond excited to introduce our beautiful, custom-built 4-Star Trailers, Inc. 4-horse head-to-head/two-box-stall trailer!

As our program continues to grow and expand, we knew it was time to make the jump into a trailer that could grow with us. Whether we’re hauling multiple horses to shows and events or making trips to Casa do Noble to pick up our next generation of young Lusitano prospects, we wanted something that offered both versatility and exceptional comfort for our horses.

And this trailer certainly delivers! 🤩

Equipped with air ride suspension, individual fans in each stall, a stall camera, and the flexibility to convert into two spacious box stalls, this trailer was designed with our horses’ safety, comfort, and well-being at the forefront. After all, they deserve nothing but the best! ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Adam Triple C Trailer Sales for helping bring our vision to life! From start to finish, the communication was clear, consistent, and professional. Adam made the entire process seamless, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product. Truly a pleasure to do business with!

We are so excited for all the adventures ahead with the Lusitano Express! Here’s to continued growth, new opportunities, and many safe miles on the road! 🌻🐴

What a fun autumn show day spent at BelleFree Farm! 🍂🐴💙

Today was all about our older orange boy, Mr. Zippy — Zip In The Money. 🧡 At 24 years young, Zip reminded me once again just how special he is.

Unfortunately, with such a busy show season, I haven’t had much time to get Zip out this year. So when I had the opportunity to pop into CDA’s show today, I figured it was the perfect chance to give my favorite orange boy a day of his own.

And to say we had a lovely time would be an understatement. 🥹

Zip gave me two beautiful, harmonious rides:
🥇 Training Level Test 1 — 72.115%
🥇 Training Level Test 2 — 71.206%
Two tests, two blue ribbons! 💙💙

But today was about so much more than scores or ribbons.

Zip was probably the happiest I’ve seen him at a show. He was calm, relaxed, soaking everything in, and absolutely loving being the center of attention for the day. He felt like he was genuinely having as much fun as I was, and that made the whole day that much more special.

There’s something pretty wonderful about getting to head down centerline with a horse who has been such a big part of our family for so many years. At 24, he still shows up ready to play, and today we simply got to enjoy each other. 🧡

Of course a big thank you to my father, John, for letting me “steal” his horse 😉… and thank you to my family who comes out to support us!

Days like today are what it’s all about. 🍁🌻

🌻🏆 2026 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP! 🏆🌻

Team Sunflower had such a great time attending our second USDF Region 8 Regional Championships! It was an exciting week filled with great rides, valuable mileage, and—most importantly—continued growth and confidence from both horses and riders. 💛

✨ Kelly Clark & Bonnie had a fantastic week! They earned a neck sash after placing 8th in the Adult Amateur Equitation Final in a very competitive class.

They also put in some really lovely tests throughout the week, bringing home a 🥇 1st, 🥈 2nd, and 4th out of 15 in some large classes!

Kelly and Bonnie also put in a great ride in their very competitive Adult Amateur Regional Championship class, placing 15th out of 37 combinations! So proud of this pair and everything they accomplished this season. 💛

✨ Quixote XX “Quiche,” owned by Diane Thomas, made his Regional Championships debut this year! He put in a good effort in his first-ever Regional class and followed it up with some really nice rides in Training Level Tests 1 and 3, earning a 🥈 2nd and 🥉 3rd.

Saturday and Sunday were all about enjoying the experience. We spent our time hacking around the grounds and letting Quiche take everything in. Seeing him happily and confidently hack around such a large, busy championship venue was one of my favorite parts of the week. His confidence has grown tremendously, and that means just as much to us as any ribbon. ❤️

Regional Championships are about so much more than the results. They’re an opportunity to see how far these horses and riders have come, gain experience in a championship atmosphere, and come home with even more confidence for the future.

So incredibly proud of Team Sunflower and another wonderful Regionals in the books! 🌻🐴🏆

A huge thank you to all of our support at home while we were away. Without my family none of this would be possible! Also, a massive thank you to my father, John, for the endless work with these horses and everything that comes with it!

We head home with happy horses, great memories, and plenty to be excited about for what comes next! We’re looking forward to the couple more shows we have planned to finish up the season, and then continue into our training!
