Meet Finn, the newest member of the Bold Coast family.
Finn is a six-month-old Llewellyn Setter from a well-known hunting line here in Maine. He’s our third Llewellyn, so it’s probably safe to say we have a soft spot for the breed.
If you aren't familiar with them, Llewellyn Setters are a field-bred line of English Setter known for being intelligent, athletic and close-working bird dogs. They tend to hunt within good contact of their person rather than ranging way out, which makes them wonderful companions in the grouse woods. At home, though, they’re often remarkably gentle, affectionate and easygoing.
That combination is a big part of why we love them so much—loving and mellow at home, but all business when it’s time to go to work.
Finn is still very much a puppy, with plenty to learn, but we’re excited to watch him grow into the dog he’s meant to be. There should be a lot of Maine woods, bird cover and adventures ahead for this guy. Apologies in advance for all the photos I will likely post ;)
For you upland hunters, I'll be offering grouse and woodcock hunting over him in 2027.
Welcome to the family, Finn.
