In-House Soccer — Opening Night This Week & First Games Next Week
Hi Families,
In-house soccer kicks off this week with opening night, and our first game night is next week. A few things to have ready before you leave the house:
Know your field before you arrive. Field assignments are posted in crossbar with a visual here: https://frabjous-lebkuchen-64fcd7.netlify.app . Signs are up at every field. Please take one minute to check your team's field number ahead of time. We are very light on volunteers this season, and coaches are focused on their own teams, so there won't be anyone stationed to direct traffic.
Field sizes may vary slightly. You'll notice fields aren't all identical from one age group or night to the next, and that's fine. The point of fall league is simple: get kids moving, touching the ball, and passing. That's also why we don't play offsides at this level. It keeps the game flowing and keeps players involved instead of standing still.
Along the same lines, please resist the urge to ask for more players on the field. Smaller sides are intentional. More players means less space, fewer touches, and less time on the ball for your kid — exactly what we're trying to avoid. Space and time are the whole idea.
Bring a ball. Not required, but players who have their own ball to warm up and practice with make noticeable progress over the season. Then they have one at home too.
Dress for the weather, every week. We plan to play every scheduled night. Pushing games back is extremely difficult once the season is underway, so we only cancel when conditions are genuinely unsafe. Layers, rain gear, and an extra pair of socks in the car go a long way in the fall.
